My friend and I dined here and ordered from the set menu, which was £19 for 3 courses. I had mackerel and beetroot salad, which was light and refreshing and my friend had salad with pancetta and poached egg, which she said was delicious. We both ordered crispy pork belly with cabbage for our main course. Sadly, the crackling was not very crispy and although we were expecting it be be slightly fatty, it was very fatty as the fat had not been rendered down sufficiently. The meat was tender and the sauce was very well made. We were too full to order a pudding but we were still charged for the 3 course set menu, it might have been a nice touch if the manager had offered us a small digestif in place of the pudding. We were also disappointed to see that the wines by the glass were all from New Zealand, which was surprising seeing as this is a French restaurant. We have eaten here before and at the Bleeding Heart restaurant, which is in the same courtyard and both dining experiences were better than this time but it does offer good value for money, which is why I will try the Bistro again.

I’ve been to this restaurant before and it’s been good but on my most recent visit the service was pretty poor. We were ignored by staff and left waiting for 40mins between main course and even being offered the desert menu despite numerous attempts to get staff attention. The food was average but overpriced given the quality (fatty duck and overcooked rabbit) and I would not recommend the white chocolate cheesecake at all - we couldn’t taste white chocolate and if anything it tasted a bit floral/soapy. I will definitely think twice before returning here.

My wife and I went to this restaurant, as we were shopping in Hatton Garden and it is just off that street. I have a rare allergy with regard to alcohol and at a lot of restaurants, the food is pre made and usually contains some form of alcohol, in the sauce, or in the way it's cooked. This one however, said that the Chef would be able to make most of the dishes on offer, with a different sauce, or cook it in a different way. This shows the the type of establishment this is. The menu was varied enough to suit all tastes and the service was excellent, attentive and warm hearted. The prices represented very good value for money and the whole meal was delicious, as was the coffee afterwards. I would visit again in a heartbeat and hope many more people venture off to it.

My wife and I had lunch here to celebrate her 40th birthday and I wish we hadn't. I arranged when booking for the restaurant to acknowledge her birthday during dessert and when it arrived there was nothing. I discussed it with the manager on my way out who checked the booking (that clearly gave the instruction on his sheet of paper). Rather than simply apologise he rudely said the kitchen had been too busy to do it. It was a pretty basic request and given we were the first to arrive it wasn't a busy lunch service.
The food was pretty terrible too - leathery pork confit was dreadful - and the service was non-existent. There are many choices in the surrounding area and if you are looking to the Bistro to celebrate a special occasion, I would strongly recommend you try elsewhere.

Been her several times . This was my fist visit since lockdown. Went for lunch. It was not busy. Tuna has been seared but just tasted burned. Carrots were really soft like they had been there for sometime. The waitress did not tell us that there was a special offer on some bottles of wine (£10 discount) or that if you ordered 3 courses you get a free glass of champagne. I only found out about this when they presented the bill and they gave a card with details of the wine / champagne offer.

First time here. Dined here with friends last night. Service was hopeless but staff were pleasant. Had ribeye steak. It was tasteless needed salt, asked three times but never appeared. Melon was hard. £40 bottle of rose was warm and wasn't offered to taste before serving. Bottle of white was warm, had to keep asking for ice to put in glasses. I know it was hot but these are large established restaurants. Other guests said Pork was good so was the grilled Fish. Outside chairs uncomfortable. Sorry for sounding grumpy.
Bill for four £200 inc two bottles of wine and £40 discount.

Still avid about getting out while we can eat at an outside restaurant, we booked for the Bleeding Heart Bistro on probably the windiest day of the year. The Bistro is in Bleeding Heart Yard in the Hatton Garden district of London, and is enclosed anyway. Tables were set outside the bistro under a canopy. During the lunch the weather changed from sunny to stormy with rain and hail and gale-force winds. Eventually the large blind was lowered over the eating area, so that it covered all of the diners. Luckily we were perched on the cobbles under a very welcome heater. Otherwise blankets were provided for extra warmth. If the climate was questionable, the food made up for it. We started with Chicken liver parfait with caramelised red onion marmalade and toasted sourdough bread - a good hearty beginning for my guest, I enjoyed the Seared tuna on Heritage Spring carrot puree with avocado and herb salsa - another toothsame treat. My guest ordered the Crispy confit pork belly with broccoli, sage and apple sauce, which was full of flavour and oh so tender meat. My Grilled petit poussin with aioli tasted like no other chicken I have had, and the zinging garlic sauce gave it a real lift with the help of a salad of mixed leaves. A portion of heavenly Pommes frites was a delightfully crispy bonus. The Dark chocolate mousse with candied blood orange and the Rhubarb tart and custard (creme anglaise) brought the lunch to a fine finish. We hope to return under better conditions and indoors unless the weather conditions this coming summer are particularly good.

I booked a table for 6 for a birthday celebration in early September. The bistro cancelled the booking at 2 days notice saying that building works would mean they couldn't open. I rebooked the restaurant for our wedding anniversary using the online booking form to indicate it was an anniversary and that they had cancelled our previous booking. The service was perfunctory. We were not welcome. The food was fine but we were treated as walking wallets. I noticed that other diners were welcomed and appreciated. I have visited the bistro several times but it is unlikely that I will return

I've been going to the Bleeding Heart for many years. I went today for Sunday lunch. On arriving, there was a bit of a wait as the table wasn't ready at the appointed hour. That was fine though. Three courses at a reasonable price for Sunday lunch including a roast if chosen.
The food was fine, seared tuna for two of us (there were three) and the fish soup to start. All were good - assuming the tuna was to be served cold. We then had three beef roasts for our main. The flavour was good but the beef a little cold. Roast potatoes excellent and veg well cooked. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy all the way through which was a little disappointing.
The main issue was the service. You can have to wait at the start, appreciate it can take time. First order taken well. No glasses set on the table for the wine and no spoon initially when the soup was served. But then had to wait >40mins for our main course. These things happen but irritating when tables around us having the same dish and having arrived and ordered after our table were being served first. Whilst happy to take our time it became noticable. By the time we got to pudding no cheese as it had ran out, no decaf coffee. Neither are particularly perishable and I'd have thought they'd be long on those. Perhaps if we'd got our main in reasonable time I'd have got my cheese!
The location is good and being in a courtyard is out of the wind.
Overall, this should still be a good restaurant, but it hasn't got itself back to its prior standards yet. I will be heading back midweek in hope that the weekend was a blip as I love this restaurant.

What a find! We were staying at a pub with rooms nearby and this little gem was about 5 minutes walk away. It felt like we were back in France on holiday and the food was excellent, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We sat outside in the courtyard which was lovely. There were four of us and we were all delighted with our choices and we had a very nice bottle of wine which wasn’t ruinously expensive. We would definitely eat here again the next time we are in London.

It was not busy in the courtyard when I came to the Bistro with a friend. The service was pleasant enough if a bit slow. The starter of a trio of salmon, smoked salmon and crab was fine, my suckling pig was delicious and the creme brûlée was perfect - just the right consistency. Eating outside in the courtyard was pleasant, but it got dark fairly early and frankly there was no supplementary lighting so I couldn’t actually see what I was eating! The whole evening was fine if a bit annoying because of the slow service and poor lighting. A candle on each table would have helped.

A bright red restaurant at the end of the lane is Bleeding Heart. A real French bistro tucked away and yet full to bursting on a Wednesday night. The fish soup starter most of us enjoyed was so full of flavour rich and deep. My pork belly was so tender it was absolutely falling apart. A side order of Dauphinoise potatoes was a perfect accompaniment. And the rabbit was another hit. Great service and ambience. With wine and a beer it was 55 pounds a head.

Birthday celebration spoilt by poor service and unhelpfulness of staff. Several issues arose. No children’s menu. Abandoned at our table with nobody keen to take our order. Plates left in front of us once finished for ages.Staff aloof giving a feeling of it was beneath their pay grade to clear our table. Wine glasses left empty having to ask to be refilled was frustrating .So much so that towards the end of our meal we topped up our own glasses.Having been happy on previous visits we felt confident making our booking to celebrate a big birthday. This whole episode was a disaster and we will not be returning. If their Gallic attitude does not improve the Bistro will follow the same path as their sister restaurant and close permanently.

The Bleeding Bistro a lovely and delightful restaurant tucked away in history fill courtyard. Weather it is for lunch or romantic dinner it’s a hidden gem. I have been coming to the Bistro since the day it opened and as i my business is yards away i am there everyday unless business or sickness prevents me. This is my favourite restaurant locally. Mr and Mrs Wilson have managed to stay at the top of their game in a very difficult and competitive industry. The key is they have always employed the best chefs and individuals in the industry and maintained a good relationship with their regular customers. Their Chef Andrew Barber is definitely amongst the best and most respected in the industry and creates heart warming dishes. Whenever I see him despite being rushed off his feet he aways has smile and time to say hello and is totally sincere. It is always a pleasure to see him and shake his hand let him know when something wonderful has landed on my table from his kitchen. In past week i had the pleasure of inviting my great friend Joanna Hardly former Director of Sotheby’s Jewellery department and BBC antiques roadshow specialist of seventeen years and author of many books on gemstones to the Bistro which she absolutely loves. Joanna Hardly herself was a guest on BBC Masterchef with fellow BBC Antiques Roadshow specialists who were given the treat of tasting the food of contestants and rating their feast. So it was pleasure just by chance at the BleedIng Heart Bistro I was able to introduce chef David Barber to Joanna Hardy two experts and specialists in their own fields and at the top of their game. I highly recommended Bleeding Heart Bistro. They have highly professional team well led by General Manager Mikael and Bistro Manager Thibaut.

Sure, the location is quaint, and it's got a track record as long as your arm, but tonight the food never achieved more than mediocrity, nor did it seem they were trying to. Mackerel with horseradish, without any detectable trace of horseradish. Ditto, Lapin a la moutarde sans moutarde. On this evidence, there are many better places to eat in London. Don't let yourself down by going here,
