Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

A must visit for a quick bite to eat on the go. The salt beef bagels are excellent - the beef is so tender and falls apart and is jam packed into a freshly baked squishy bagel. Finished with gherkin and mustard - the mustard is strong so if you don’t like it over powering I would recommend asking for a small amount or without. I couldn’t finish the last few bites of mine as they were a bit heavy handed with the mustard. Great value, especially for London prices, around £6 and they do a great smoked salmon cream cheese bagel for £3.50 as well. Great to grab a bite to eat on the go eaten out of the paper bag when in Brick Lane instead of going a chain, where you would pay the same for a stale panini or sandwich. There is always a queue out the door but service is very quick given the staff work a great production line. A little bit abrupt / rude service (the server shouted ‘oi lady’ at me to get my attention) but I can overlook that for how good the bagels are and the fact it’s a grab and go type venue.

Stopped off while in the area and ordered a few things from the menu. Salt beef was delicious very soft and tender and tasted amazing. Unfortunately they had no southern fried chicken so my wife opted for the salmon and she said it did not disappoint. Doughnuts were fantastic hands down better than anything from Greggs. The cookies were good however tasted a little salty for my liking but were enjoyed by my wife and daughter.
We timed our stop well as we were straight in this was around 1pm on a Saturday there were a lot of people eating outside and by the time we left there was a short queue out the door. We would definitely stop in here again much better than fast food alternatives. I’ve seen a lot of reviews about the staff but they were more than pleasant with us the lady that served us was very helpful unfortunately didn’t get her name to give her a mention.

Salt beef on rye bread with pickled cucumber and mustard is just to die for! I've known this place for more decades than I care to remember. I always have the same thing whenever I visit, now unfortunately not often enough as I no longer live in London. Lots of tender salt beef, tasty crunchy pickled cucumber and plenty of mustard. Very reasonably priced. I always buy two, so that I can eat one there and take the other home. The rye bread is just perfect. I've never tasted their beigels. I'd eat smoked salmon and cream cheese with a beigel. Salt beef to me should be eaten with rye bread, but each to their own. I don't find the staff in the least bit unpleasant as a few reviewers have remarked. They all work very hard and really don't have time to converse with the customers. The queues can sometimes be long, but usually one gets served very quickly. It's an authenthic Jewish place and so too are their products, so perhaps one should not compare with the like bought from big supermarkets. I know very few places where you can buy such delicious salt beef and nowhere at their price.

Tried to sell me a microwaved hot dog (bun and sausage itself microwaved) for £8 and was told after questioning it that 'it was the only way to cook'. I wouldn't feed a microwaved sausage to an animal - disgusting.
You'd expect better from a well known chain! I now can only imagine how they prepare their bagels.

I don’t get why this place is so hyped, or why there was a queue. I ended up here as a last-minute decision, having heard so many good things about this place. Had to queue for 15 minutes before I could order, staff was rude and my bagel was old and tough and the filling had zero flavour.

Delicious salt beef bagels. The line may be long but it moves quickly so we waited just 10 mins which is nothing if you’ve travelled far!
The kids loved their peanut butter bagels, and chocolate cookie was a definite thumbs up!
If I lived near I’d be round every weekend, however will look forward to my next visit!

Visited this shop for the first time yesterday afternoon as I was in the area. Was served by a rude older woman with blondish hair who did her best to make me feel uncomfortable. The salt beef beigel with pickle and mustard for which I was charged £6.70, was simple and tasty but due to the poor customer service experience, I won’t be returning.

We found this place via a popular Youtube food blogging duo and it was near our hotel in Shoreditch. You get the feeling the staff are a bit resentful of the publicity they are getting as the service is a bit brusque but efficient, and the place is always busy but once you try their Salt Beef Beigel you can understand the hype. Great slabs of warm salt beef, gherkin and mustard stuffed inside one bagel satisfied the 2 of us. We ate it outside on the footpath while watching the passing parade of interesting characters that is Brick Lane. If you're looking for good honest food, and they've been serving this for a long time, then this is your place.

I'm sorry to say but the lady who served us was so rude and incompetent. She asked if she could help us, then proceeded to ignore us when we were giving our order. We ordered one cream cheese and avocado bagel, and one cream cheese bagel and were given an avacado bagel and a bagel with a slice of sweaty cheddar cheese - not at all what we ordered (and repeated multiple times when asked to remind her what we ordered!).

This is now my third time ordering from Beigel bake.
I've been twice in person and ordered once online (the prices depending on where you deliver to vary)
The beigels are some of the best I've ever had so it's worth a visit if you just want to grab some plain beigels but the salt beef is where it is at!
I'd recommend ordering with pickles and mustard, the mustard is super strong and sharp but works so well!
I've had the salmon beigle before but there wasn't enough cream cheese for my liking so probably wouldn't order that again.
We tried onion platzel which were a little dry so wouldn't order one again.
I want to go back and try the cheesecake it looked amazing!
The service both times has been a little blunt but this also made it super speedy, I would recommend looking at a menu before you go so you know what you want to order as soon as you get to the counter.
Prices were very good/ it's a great place to grab some food on the go/ will 100% be back!

I've been coming here for many years and occasionally get a salt beef sandwich but my usual order is a dozen plain bagels which are usually still warm and I put them in the freezer where they keep well. The bagels here are the best, they are crisp on the outside and chewy inside and very slightly sweet so they go particularly well with smoked salmon. The ladies behind the counter are no nonsense and they haven't had much customer service training but I don't come here for the friendly service.

As a student, I had recently studied Brick Lane as a case study in my Geography lessons and my teacher had nothing but praise for Beigel Bake. So, when my GCSE examinations were complete, I seized the opportunity to go.
I arrived at Beigel Bake around 2pm on a Friday afternoon and it was not too busy; there were only a couple of people in front of my father and I in the queue. The queue moved rapidly and we both ordered the salt beef bagel. I asked for gherkins and just a little mustard in mine and the polite lady prepared it exactly as ordered. They cost £5.70 each but well-worth the price; the staff were very generous with the amount of salt beef they put in their bagels. It was perfectly succulent and the bagel was equally crunchy and doughy.
Although it was my first time going, my father used to work in the area around twenty years ago and was a regular customer at Beigel Bake. He was thrilled to discover that both the standards of service and Bagels had not faltered during this time.
I will definitely be returning; highly and happily recommended.

Have visited for over 50 years - the last 40 years from Essex, to buy 4/5 dozen plain beigals plus filled ones. This is the first time we were refused 4 dozen beigals by the male server who then shrugged his shoulders at my husband and couldn’t care less about any sort of customer service. There were plenty on the shelves. He then offered us 2 dozen reluctantly. Walked out probably never to return. Went next door to buy them. Same quality but cheaper. Better customer service and more choice of cakes. Between son and husband they spent £100. Obviously Brick Lane Beigal Bake don’t need the custom.

We went to Beigel Bake with family in June and I can quite easily say this is one of the best bagels I have ever tasted in my life. We got the salt beef bagel with mustard and pickled cucumbers. The portion sizes are very generous. Very affordable considering the prices in London. I will absolutely be back here the next time I am in London and highly recommend it.

If you had not known: many delicatessens and even bakeries in London come and stock up on their bagels, freeze them and sell them as if it is theirs by charging multiple.
For me, their Bagels, Salted beef and cheese cake, these three items are my regular shopping from them.
It is sad though that they regularly over charge: while it is very busy most of the time and I do not want to make a scene only for some extra, so I pay what they demand. I can do mental arithmetic so I know either they are poor in arithmetic or on purposely doing if they carry on charging more than what it is even after many reviewers say so.
And as many other reviewers say, the staff are not helpful. But what would you expect when they are having to deal with so many people and most of them are tourists who would only visit them once or twice? FYI, Kyoto has been known that they are openly blunt to one-off customers unless they come with their regulars.
Anyway, I won't stop visiting them as I crave for their products. Hopefully one day, they will remember me and until then I pay extra for tips.
