This low-key place was recommended by several friends (ex-pats) who had lived in London for several years. PLAIN and BASIC - not particularly atmospheric, no tablecloths BUT lovely service, lively crowd (including lots of locals) and great fish and chips. Don't go if you are looking for a diverse menu or a special night. Just good fish and chips! They... More

Without booking, my girlfriend and I came to this restaurant. Waitresses are French, very nice and smiling, several type of fishes are offered. We ate very well, especially the sauce was tasteful. The room is perhaps a bit noisy for a dinner between lovers, but I will come back !

Chris owned and managed this "Chippy" since I first used it 30 years ago. He recently retired but his family have taken over and a new manager is keeping up the standards. Its a real London Fish and Chip Shop andthe fish is wonderful. The service is good but be warned - Book ahead! Gone are the days when I... More

The new owners boast about the fact that they now have a licence to serve alcohol, but I liked it when you could take your own. A quick visit to Waitrose in Marylebone High Street provided good, cheap, cold white wine. When we visited recently we had not known about the new licence so made that usual visit only to... More

I went to the Golden Hind last week for a family lunch. I have tried other establishments in London and from other reviews had high expectations. In short the meal was excellent, by fair one of the best fish and chips I've had in a while. The Pinot Grigio complimented the cod well and the service was impeccable. I would... More

If you are looking for amazing lightly battered fish then this is the place to go to. It's packed during lunches.

This is a farly standard fish and chips restaurant in the delightful surroundings of Marylebone, one of London's loveliest areas. Up to a few weeks ago, it was BYOB, which made it a cheap, fun place. It now has a licence & you have to buy their booze, which, for me at any rate, means that there are now lots... More

For some reason, good fish and chips seem to be getting more difficult to find in London. One reliable place, a Marylebone institution, is the Golden Hind. My skate was outstanding, the best I have had in many years. Service is efficient and agreeable, prices acceptable for the quality of the fish. It has many return local customers so can... More

I met a couple of ex-colleagues here for lunch. We met to catch up on our various business activities. We all had the haddock and chips with peas and a cup of tea. I had an apple crumble for dessert. The food was good and the service was reasonably quick. The prices were reasonable too. This place is popular, it... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
