Just off Victoria street, this little place is very easy to miss, especially on a dark January night. However, follow the narrow staircase (always intriguing) below the bright red paper lantern outside and you’ll find a real hidden gem of a restaurant. Be under no illusion, this is not your swish, West-End Japanese, but that’s no bad thing as the prices are great given the location. Seating is limited as it’s not a huge place but service is friendly (the trainee chap who served us was fantastic) and the atmosphere pleasant. The menu includes a variety of hot and cold dishes. Lovely, fresh salmon and tuna sashimi and light, crispy tempura batter coating reassuring large king prawns were particular highlights. Dinner for two including two soft drinks (wine, beer, sake and tea also are available) was £54 excluding service, and we have fairly healthy appetites. If you’re in the area it’s a great place to eat, and if you want good value sushi it’s worth going out of your way to try this place.

I chose this little sushi house to take my son for his 16th birthday. He’s used to more ‘commercial’ places so this was a really authentic experience for him. The place is easily missed so pay attention and when you do find it, it’s really cosy inside so I suggest you book just in case. The menu is extensive! So much to choose from and we went in! We had deluxe sashimi, ichiriki rolls, lion king rolls, soft shell crab rolls, octopus/clam/scallop/shrimp nigiri and sashimi. It all arrives beautifully presented and fresh and the service was prompt. Kim was so attentive and polite and really made us feel welcome. Definitely one to return to!

This place does fabulous sushi ! Mostly I’m disappointed with London sushi but this place restored my faith. I guess it’s family owned - the Dad being the sushi chef appears to have been here since the 1980s but can barely string 2 English words together. The elder son does the serving (I’m guessing all this). Anyway not to worry the menu is wide, wide, wide... temperature of sushi perfect. Atmosphere intimate. Facilities basic - price reasonable. All in I defy you to be disappointed.

super bad experience with this restaurant. the portion was small and the Udon broth was heated with MICROWAVE! I couldn't believe it and it is overpriced with mediocre quality. Nirigi was just alright but they changed £17 for a set of Udon and Nigiri. Worst of all, this waiter was like, "no service charge was included", in another word we "requiring" you to tip us but the service wasn't very good and we felt like the food was overpriced so we refused to tip them and on they way out, the "waiter" gave me a dead look and said something in "non-English" sounding very condescending, we knew they were talking trash about us so it made the whole experience even worse. Tip is supposed to be given to good service, not "required", he definitely didn't deserve it.

When I looked at the menu online the selection looked really tempting so I was really looking forward to visiting. The restaurant is small & cosy which is reminiscent of establishments in Japan though looks a bit scruffy. Was torn what to order but opted for the udon set as it looked most filling for the price. My heart sank when the sushi appeared - they were tiny & each piece was barely larger than a long fingernail. As other reviewers have pointed out, the rice used appears to be long grain rather than short grain which is that it should be. Hand roll was nothing special & was short on filling. The curry udon was a small handful of noodles in a bit of curry sauce in an oversized bowl. I don't usually have carbs so they tend to fill me up when I have them & yet I didn't leave feeling like I had enough to eat. Extremely disappointed with this establishment. Don't trust the reviews or the pictures online as the reality is quite different.

I was so excited to go there as the restaurant has excellent reviews. I really wanted to try their sushi even before the pandemic. Disappointing wasn’t sufficient. I don’t consider it’s Japanese restaurant because I don’t think if sushi is served the restaurant is Japanese. There is no Japanese person and no Japanese style service available. Don’t take me wrong, I’m not insisting without Japanese staff it can’t be Japanese restaurant. There is no properly cooked japanese food and all over food quality is very poor. First of all, I can tell with confidence all supposed to warm dishes are just microwaved. As soon as we ordered those dishes very familiar microwave sound started. supposed to be steamed chicken gyoza came floating in water. I can tell those are definitely frozen food from most probably certain Chinese cash and carry wholesale store. Spinach was incredibly tough. It may be good for you if you are on extremely high fibre diet but I felt I had become a cow. Sushi was another huge disappointment. Quality was poor although eatable. But I would rather prefer to eat that quality sushi at one of the famous chain restaurant’s branch in Victoria Street. Because it’d be more spacious and more importantly cleaner. But the worst part was when we ordered CURRY UDON! The waitress didn’t understand what we were asking because she pronounce it CA-RAY UDON and insisted she had asked what we water was noodle in soup. In my opinion even curry udon is noodle in curry soup. But by the time we had realised we made a big mistake and decided to leave as quick as we could, so didn’t argue. And when the bill came we just paid the amount. it stated that ‘no service charge is included’ and some Korean that neither of us didn’t understand. Since we left no tip the waitress suddenly became very rude. She even didn’t bother to say good-bye! I will never go there again and wouldn’t recommend anybody who would like to eat decent Japanese food.

Easy to miss this little place which is downstairs from the street. It’s small, cosy and traditional. I sat at the counter and had the ichiriki special with miso soup. All beautifully prepared and fresh, sushi isn’t filling but it is tasty and I certainly enjoyed this. I’d certainly recommend and it’s fairly priced.

My wife and I visited Ichi-Ricki a few days ago and totally enjoyed the experience the food was freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The basement restaurant is probably best described as utilitarian, but what the heck, you're here for the excellent food not the décor. The three ladies running the establishment were non stop through out the 90 minutes we were there but our server always had a big smile. This is a small basement establishment so probably best to book. The final bill was incredibly reasonable, not just for London, but for any where. All in all a wonderful dining experience and thoroughly recommended.

We were recommended this basement restaurant and between us, ate a variety of different dishes. If seaweed or sushi isn’t your thing don’t work, salmon teriyaki and other rice and vegetable dishes are also available. Beautiful soup, stunning flavours. The only downside was the dreadful toilet with no running water in the sink. Take hand sanitiser!

We wanted to have a good Japanese meal. This place is not in most tourist havens, which is great! Their bento boxes are opulent and very very well-prepared. The sashimi was fresh. My salmon was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. My husband’s teriyaki steak was grilled just right, still juicy, flavorful and tender. The pork tonkotsu was also well prepared. Our only lament was the rather Uber small green salad. They could have given a little more. (Fresh veggies are good for you) and we enjoy the crunch and flavor to contrast the other dishes. The place was clean. Our server was attentive and efficient. We will be back!

I would had given 5 stars if it was not the wrong Sushi soy source. They used cooking soy source which is a lot salty and will cover the Fresh ingredients taste. Apart from this, the staff are friendly and helpful. This place is owned by Japanese people so it will be what you would get in Japan almost. The food is well made with fresh ingredient. Taste is good but the rice could have a bit more flavour. The price is worth it. Over all I will visit again.

Very small place, supposedly a family business with the chef working right in front of you like it should be. I had a selection of nigiri for lunch and it was top level. Not overly expensive either. Highly recommended.

You could be fooled into walking past this place but if you do, you’re mad. The food is amazing! Real quality sushi with fantastic service. If you’re in London and don’t come here, you’re missing out. This place should should be permanently packed to the rafters!

Excellent family run Japanese restaurant tucked in basement on Strutton Ground in the heart of Victoria. Great menu at reasonable price. Food was excellent and service nice and quick. This is a small restaurant but the food and variety is superb. This will be a regular haunt of mine.

I had been here a few years ago and loved this place, but unfortunately it seems it’s permanently closed? Their website is still live (July 2024), we tried to reserve by filling in a form on their site but got no response. Went their without reservation during stated opening hours. Not only was the restaurant closed but the signage had been removed from the exterior of the building.

Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
