Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Eagerly anticipated our visit only to be under whelmed. Greet and service was fine, table was very good with loads of spaces and large chairs. Drink was good, although red was cold. Lobster bisque was the highlight and the main was very average - sloppy...risotto - well below expectation. It was a very expensive meal, largely as we purchased expensive wines. Heard other diners sending food back, which didn't sit well. So in all, it was ok, but not the special experience that we were all expecting.More

Incredibly reasonably priced but still feels luxurious. Service is superb and the small, perfectly formed menu offers the French classics. House wine was great value and the cocktails were amazing.

Took my partner here for a birthday lunch. The fixed price three course menu was absolutely delicious- the soup, the pasta, and the dessert were very tasty and well-presented. Really good location as well. Would come again for sure, for a pre-theatre nibble.

Great fixed price menu at only £28 for 3 courses (£24 for 2) between 5 and 7 pm so ideal for a pre theatre dinner and well located for the West End venues. Food and service were both excellent, although wine list a little pricey...but offset by the reasonably priced food. Beautiful, stylish French decor, would highly recommend it.More

Fantastically priced Sunday lunch. I booked the set menu at £39 for three courses for 4 of us and was astonished at the value and amount of food we received. Usually set menus are sparse on portions, but we were all stuffed, particularly with the...roast beef which was perfectly cooked. Very attentive service and a great venue.More

Fridays should always be a long lunch day and what could be better than to be showered with gastronomic delights at L’Escargot, “London’s Oldest French restaurant” Food and service was of the highest order… with great value for money across all the menu’s! The classic...escargot 🐌 doused in delicious garlic butter are a must… the chicken liver parfait was smooth and delicious with the selection of homemade breads, then use the remaining bread like a sponge and soak up any delectable escargot sauce. Fillet Rossini was cooked to perfection!! Finishing with an Amalfi lemon tart which was exceptional…. but don’t forget to have a sneaky plate of perfect Madeleines with the coffee ☕️ Can’t recommend L’Escargot enough!! A MUST TRY for Lunch or Dinner… and now I’m told there’s even Afternoon TeaMore

Excellent lunch’ with friends. We chose the (amazing value) three course ”pre-theatre” menu - £28. We could have had the steak frites main for just £15! We were attentively served and the three courses were flavoursome and well presented. An all round success.

L'Escargot was recommended by a friend as a lovely place to take friends out for a special lunch - a recommendation which was spot on. We had a delicious lunch in the charming dining room. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, tables were well spaced...out, the chairs are comfortable and the menu gave plenty of choice to the various dietary requirements for our party. They even provided gluten free bread! All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, thank you!More

This is a beautiful looking restaurant, full of old world charm. The quality of food is excellent. We had in season grouse, which was outstanding, as were their signature snails. The service felt relaxed but was impeccable. They also had a very good wine list....We'd brought my partner's sister for her birthday and it felt suitably special for such a celebration.More
