I had a great evening with a nice 3-course meal and a bottle of Bordeax red wine... Staff were friendly and thoroughly enjoyed yet.

Went for a belated valentine dinner. The service was great. And of course my favourite dish was Escargot. They have a set menu: 3 courses including a glass of prosecco for only £30, which is a great deal.

The food is fairly priced, the snails are the best I've eaten outside of France. The service is discreet, you don't notice the staff, but they are there! Totally unpretentious and we had a fabulous evening. I've dined here several times and each visit has been a joy. I requested beef en croute which is not on the regular menu, but have... More

Everything was perfect since the moment when we came till the last bye. Food was amazing and staff nice and friendly. Our lithuanian waiter was very helpful and helped us to choose food and wine. Service worth 14.5% and even more. We got more than expected. Definitely coming back again and again. Thank you so much!

It's always a bit of a gamble going back to a restaurant which was special to one 25 years ago, but our oldest daughters 21st made it one worth taking. It was great to find things as I remember them, classy, friendly with great food. We were 5 and had snails, smoked salmon and crab for starters, cod, duck, pasta... More

A wonderfully elegant restaurant with impeccable service and good food. The duck dish and risotto were wonderful though my daughter was not so impressed with the plaice goujons. Good value.

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Soho. We had traditional French food that was excellently done. All the staff were very welcoming and it really felt like a special evening.

A birthday dinner treat after a matinee at the theatre. Restaurant was friendly and helpful when we arrived half an hour early. Starters and main course (cassoulet) were excellent; dessert not quite so convincing but still good. A good range of wines by the glass. Food prices were reasonable given the quality; wine was expensive but not actually outrageous. Waiters... More

L'Escargot is the oldest French restaurant in London. However, as a Soho legend, it is very much up to date. Relaxed atmosphere, good food and wine, all reasonably priced. There is no dress code (nudity discouraged !). L'Escargot has been host to stars of stage and screen for many years. Previous clients include, Coco Chanel, John Giulgud, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Ralph Richardson, Judy Dench, and the late Princess Diana. Pre-theatre and post theatre dining is popular and theatre and dinner packages are available. You may just pop in for one course and a cocktail or glass of wine - we look forward to welcoming you.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
