This is definitely our favourite place for a good dinner in the area. We like to go there for everything the restaurant has to offer: elegant and unassuming settings, excellent and friendly service from all the staff (Mattea, Elvira, James and Francesco), and the wonderfully...creative food and special touches. We do keep coming back.More

I was really looking forward to this restaurant. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. The food was very good but the team were really let down by an amateurish front of house. We had to ask 3 times for our wine glasses to...be topped up. Front of house lacked any attention to their guests and I was left deeply underwhelmed!More

We visit lots of Michelin starred restaurants through the year. We were really looking forward to Launceston place, however we were really disappointed. Food was good, service very poor! Sommelier was very interested in the table next to us who were having the wine flight,...but as we were buying by the bottle, our service was really poor. Btw - to put this in context we started with a bottle of veuve , so we’re not scrimping on cost. Our waiter was lovely, but had bad body odour- just not what you would expect from this level of restaurant. Unfortunately we will not probably return , unless front of house service is improved dramatically.More

We were very disappointed for a Michelin star restaurant which of course was priced accordingly. The food was good, not great. The service was a bit all over the place with several mistakes made, including incorrect items being brought to the table. Not recommended

So the schtick here is that there's a very short menu, and you choose what you want by basically leaving counters out of a kind of game board, revealing the courses you would like to choose. Alternatively you can leave the tasting menu spot revealed....3 courses is £75, the tasting menu £125. The food was superb, really well executed, somewhat showy but the chef does a decent enough job. Highlights were the reconstructed boiled egg and soldiers with truffle and the roast potatoes with powdered vinegar. I was too caught up in the company and conversation to pay sufficient attention but this was both highly instagrammable and highly delicious. The wine list is fair, focused on quality rather than quantity, but definitely london markups. Not obscenely gougy but you probably wouldn't make a trip here based on the wine list alone. Service was spot on - a mostly young front of house team who clearly took their jobs seriously, and you got the sense that this is a restaurant which takes hiring and training staff seriously. The dining room was nice and relaxed - not too noisy, which as I descend into late middle age becomes more and more important. Really enjoyable dinner, we will be back.More

Went to Launceston Place with my husband to celebrate my birthday with the tasting menu. Second time visiting, but 10+ years after the first. We had the tasting menu, which I was very much looking forward to, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! Ten or so...courses, full of high points - highest were the very succulent pigeon wellington, the monkfish and the spelt sourdough with a range of artisan butters, but I could go on and on and on… My other half has a couple of dietary intolerances, and these were catered for in the most comprehensive yet unobtrusive way; every so often they’d bring a course out and it would be “for madam we have X and for sir we have Y”. Rebecca, our waitress, managed this in the most professional way; and Piotr, the sommelier, was full of information in helping us to choose our wine. All in all a fantastic evening - not cheap, but worth every penny. I hope we’ll be back in less than ten years’ time…More

Fabulous lunch, lovely cocktails, great choice from menu including six course tasting menu. We didn't opted for this, as several Amuse-bouche, breads etc came to the table first. This charming restaurant in heart of Kensington has completely filled my heart. The ambiance is exceptionally inviting and elegant. It has the most remarkable hosts whom are extremely knowledgeable and offer great recommendations. We opted for the tasting menu and it certainly didn’t disappoint. These...spectacular dishes were simply delicious. They arrived full of flare and with top tier presentation. A wonderful selection of fine wines accompanied the experience. This was all expertly created by the most humble and innovative head chef, Ben Murphy, whom we had the absolute pleasure of meeting. I would highly recommend this establishment for any occasion and look forward to returning again and again.More

We visited Launceston place last night with our family for a celebratory Christmas dinner. We had one coeliac with us and the restaurant was given previous notice of this. We have visited the restaurant on 4 previous occasions and although expensive the food and wine...have never disappointed. That is until last night. The food was unfortunately not up to its previous high standard in fact it rather felt like the kitchen had been given a smaller grocery budget. We all left disappointed and my coeliac daughter called to say she had stomach pains which usually means she has been exposed to gluten which is really upsetting to me. We won’t be returning to Launceston place because it wasn’t worth the money. I hope the kitchen staff have been given adequate training to deal with allergies as this can really affect peoples lives.More

Launceston Place is a gem of a restaurant. First of all the dining room, is sophisticated but really comfortable. If you can get a table in the window area, they are lovely. The service is friendly professional and engaging. I'd name all the staff if...I could but particular thanks to Mattea Francesco amd Elvira who keep things running so smoothly . Finally, to Ben the chef . This quiet charming chef is an absolute Rock Star in the kitchen. He and his crew turn out amazing food beautifully presented. Difficult to pick out dishes but the venison dish, the pork pressa, the chocolate chestnut pudding and an old favourite - the chicken parfait are amazing. If you can go for the tasting option so you get the full flavour of Ben's cooking.More
