Le Mercury used to be one of my Fiances favourite restaurants. Not any more, it seems to have gone downhill. On our most recent visit the restaurant was hot & crowded and noisy, not a nice nor romantic atmosphere. One of the dishes we ordered had run out so we had to choose an alternative. And generally, although the portion... More

We visited Le Mercury as colleague wanted to eat French cuisine; no fear of that here! After been served the wrong drink for a start; no appology I'm hasten to add! I proceeded to order my starter in French, with the vain hope of getting in the spirit of things; utter waste of time as the waiter rudly replied, "the... More

Door from street very difficult to negotiate for anyone with under 100% mobility. Group booking so up two steep narrow flights of stairs which looked in sore need of a deep clean. Windows in dining room dirty and no visible fire escape. Main course of turkeurned out to be "turkey roll" and totally inedible. Resembled a tin of catfood, but... More

Came here for a mid-week dinner at 18:30. The ground floor was pretty full already - pre-theatre crowd, perhaps. As I sat waiting for my friend, more groups of people came in and were ushered upstairs. We ordered main courses - lamb and duck breast - and puddings - chocolate tart and creme brulee. The saddle of lamb was nice,... More

Sometimes it's difficult to decide where to stop for dinner in Upper St (one of the roads with more restaurants in London). Don't hesitate, go to this place (book a table first). The place is really cozy, food was amazing and super cheap. Don't miss the mussels if you go!

Booked for lunch with friends and arrived to find an empty restaurant. We were shown to a table but asked to sit near a window which was refused, we were told our requested position was two tables for two, I don't.see how putting them together was a problem. Four starters were ordered only one arrived apparently the other three were... More

To start positively, the staff are really really friendly here and the service was very quick. The atmosphere is fairly nice too, and whilst others below have commented that it is a bit grotty in parts, overall I think the place is in reasaonble condition for its purposes. However, I think the food can unfortunately only be described as average.... More

I love Le Mercury. I have been there countless times with friends and dates and for birthdays. The food is great, the price is fantastic, the ambiance is exactly what I like in a restaurant. Informal, chatty, with good food, wine and candles. What more do you want! 😊

First came here at the end of the last millennium, and it has remained a firm favourite of ours ever since. Popped in on Tuesday, excellent as ever. The décor hasn't changed, and probably does put some folk off - maybe some form of subliminal reverse marketing to weed out the faint hearted as otherwise it would be even more... More

As a previous reviewer says below - this is indeed a bit shabby chic but perhaps more like a scabby cat if you're used to fine dining establishments. Thankfully I'm not as twas far from the bourgeois I was rared. The prices are standard for all starters and mains which makes the math simple - always helpful if you're dining... More
