Second visit here in a couple of months and not disappointed On my own so ordered just two dishes. Still needed a doggy bag to take home Huge portions, particularly the Singapore noodles. Szechuan chicken with crispy vegetables very spicy and tasty Handy for Marylebone Station so will visit again Downsides: ludicrously expensive beer at £4.50 for a small bottle and a sneaky 13% service charge added to the bill

We've eaten here now many times, and each time are impressed with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We spent six weeks in China last week and this was our first return to the Phoenix Palace to have Dim Sum and, once again, we were not disappointed. We had a selection of the dumplings and the guns, and they matched anything we had in China. There is a large selection of steamed and fried dumplings as well as steamed Cheung Fun. There is also an extensive a la carte menu, as well as a variety of set menus. The wine list is extensive, including some excellent rare wines, but also has a number of more affordable options, as well as a number serves by the glass. In the current crisis, social distancing is obvious and there are many had-sanitizer stations. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and an authentic Chinese experience. We will definitely visit again.

We had a great meal for 3. We ordered Chicken curry Malaysian style, Pork chop with chilli, garlic & peppercorn salt (which is chopped pork in spite of the name!), Sliced duck in orange sauce (I personally came here for this one dish), Fried beef Ho Fun (dry) (slightly greasy but tasty nonetheless), plus 2 rice and Chinese broccoli with garlic, and drinks. With service charges this came to exactly £100 or £33 a head which is good value for money for a superior Chinese meal and possibly one of the best I’ve ever had. Friendly and helpful staff plus we were lucky enough to park right outside. Highly recommended. Our second time and we'll be coming back.

Five of us went for dim sum on a Sunday lunch time. Excellent food: pasta rolls with eels, crispy noodles and beef with ho fun noodles were all first class. Good atmosphere: near capacity without being crowded, and the 'look' of the room is fantastic. The waiting staff were, however, a little rushed and service could be described as perfunctory. Which would be OK if a 13% service charge was not added automatically to the bill. For 13% I would, at minimum, expect a certain degree of politeness. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transport. We went for a walk in Regents park (a few minutes away) afterwards. A perfect day.

Having researched a number of recommended Chinese restaurants for a family meal we booked a table for 15 at the Phoenix palace. It was a great homie. From the moment we arrived until we left, the service was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. We has two whole duck to start with a range of other classic dishes which was all very well cooked and presented. The 15 mains were diverse but all of them tasted fresh and nicely spiced. The tables are nicely spaced out so that you don't feel you are on top of other diners yet also feels intimate. We have eaten at a few Chinese restaurant in London over the years and this was by far the best. Everyone had a great evening and a big thanks to all the staff.

Phoenix Palace is mine and my sister's favourite Chinese restaurant. One of the first things I always observe is the ambiance. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, there is always gentle background music which adds to a sense of tranquility. In addition to this the staff are always welcoming, polite and eager to provide excellent service. The menus are extensive, from the starters to vegetarian dishes, to seafood dishes, various meat dishes (including game), noodle dishes, various rice dishes, authentic Chinese specialities and dim sum. Equally there is an extensive wine list, a variety of spirits and cocktails, soft drinks and hot drinks. My sister and I are regular patrons at Phoenix Palace for the excellent service from all of the staff (Leo, in particular), amazing food, warm atmosphere and great ambiance.

We visit Phoenix Palace as a family a couple or three times a year and it is without question my favourite Chinese restaurant in London. Very traditional, opulent decor, cavernous inside, excellent service and a vast menu containing many of the usual suspects but also loads of more traditional / intriguing dishes. The clientele is mixed (business, tourist, families, couples, friends) but there are usually quite a number of Chinese diners which always is a good sign. The food is beautifully presented, always well cooked and is good value, although pricing is slightly on the higher side when compared to inferior Chinese restaurants. My favourite dishes this time were the Rotisserie pork belly and the prawn toast which in my opinion is the equal of the dish served in Duck and Rice.

Very busy Saturday lunch. Hight noise level. Love the over-the-top elaborate chinese lanterns, fairy lights, pictures of oversized chillies, dragons and brocade chair covers. I had been here many times prior to Covid lockdown and rated it very highly but our dim sum today lacked character and flavour and was very disappointing. Prawn and chive dumplings were boring, it took 3 attempts to get the scallop and asparagus steamed dim sum which had no sign of asparagus. An intriguing octopus dumpling resembles the rubbery "fish balls" which can be bought in Chinese supermarkets and the correct chilli sauces were delivered after we had almost finished the food. The fried prawn won tons were excellent. Vietnamese spring rolls were dry and had a weird filling including rice noodles - we didn't finish them. I was impressed that the waiter recommended that we did not need 2 servings of the Toffee Bananas and he was right. Amazing value at £30 a head and probably would be better choosing dishes other than dim sum.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The value for money is unbelievable. The portions are huge and the food in my opinion is the best Chinese food in London. I’ve eaten at #royalchina #chinatang and #kai and whilst all those are more popular their prices reflect that. I am vegetarian too and the food was brilliant. The service was 7stars. Your first visit will not be your last! The service from Vivian was unbelievably top class.

We had a great meal here, as we had done a few years back. Astounded that this vast restaurant was so empty, with around 10 covers. The usual lovely welcome and we had some beers whilst waiting for our friends. We had a melange of dishes between us for both starters and mains and everything came piping hot when it was ready – highlights for us were the veg tempura, shredded chicken and a lamb main course. The waiter was good and made sure that we didn’t order too much. Bottles of Gavi and Malbec were perfect accompaniments.

Having been a customer for over 13 years I thought I would at last take the time to write a review. For food it's simply the best Chinese in town, I can highly recommend the crispy wasabi prawns and the laoganma chicken. The staff including Leo the manager always make it a joy to spend an evening at the Phoenix Palace and I'm looking forward to eating here over the next 13 years!

But let me qualify, the junior staff were good, the senior management were to a man, miserable. There was the merest quiver of a smile when we asked for the bill. We reserved a table for ten and the bill was about £300 for dim sum and a few specials. The early dishes to arrive were tepid (wu kok, two different cheung fun) we asked for a reheat from a grumpy older waiter. I won't be rushing back to this place.

You never have a good feeling for a restaurant where it takes half an hour to order and a further 45 minutes to get any starters, not all of which ever turn up, in which two waiters argue with each other while failing to deliver your food, and then some seemingly almost random food is set down. Four days later several of our party are still suffering from the after-effects of the food, some of it being that bad. The best was mediocre. A truly dreadful experience never to be repeated. My local Chinese takeaway offers similarly bad food, but a lot cheaper.

Went there for dim sum with friends and the food was excellent. We ordered an array of dishes which were all delicious, espeically the Shanghai dumplings and pork turnip cake. All the food was served promptly and we were looked after by the staff who were very attentive. We never had an empty pot of tea. Additionally, the decoration is wonderful and traditional, so much so that you forget that you're in central London. Would highly recommend and will be returning very soon!

We held a lunch party for about 40 people here on Sunday, and everyone commented on how delicious and varied the food was. I used to come here quite frequently before the pandemic, but even I was surprised that the dishes were even more delicious than I remembered - the honeyed eel, and the scallop and asparagus get a special mention. The friendly staff were very attentive to our needs and requests, and one of the managers, Jimmy, had been very generous with his time over the previous few weeks in helping me to organise the party, including drinks before lunch, and the menu. Phoenix Palace is a beautiful restaurant, with a buzzy ambience, and with several semi-private areas of different sizes in which to hold a party. All in all, a really great restaurant, whether popping in for dim sum, or having a full-blown lunch or dinner party.

Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
