We went as a family on Friday 6th January for dinner. There were six grown ups and two children (12 & 8). We had set menu C for seven and it was plenty. The food and the service were excellent. Wonderful atmosphere. The Phoenix is always very good and never disappoints.

Ordered the spare ribs (salt and chilli) and chicken with black bean sauce and egg fried rice. Ribs were chewy, fatty and extremely poorly cooked. The chicken was ok, but I assume that they expecting a run on black bean sauce later in the evening! Expensive, overrated and I will not be returning. Service was ok.

Fantastic restaurant. My first visit but not my last. Prices no different to Chinatown but food definitely up a notch. Loved it!

Great dinner experience here with friends. We were debating about where to quench our East Asian cravings and settled on Chinese. When I insisted on PROPER Chinese food, my friend said he knew just the place. And he was right! Aside from the fact that the food (taste and presentation) were excellent, I also liked the service (friendly and prompt),... More

Enjoyed meal at the Phoenix. Quite expensive but food was good. It would have been a more pleasant experience if the waitresses with the Bob hairstyles could smile a bit more and be more friendly. It was not very busy on New Year's Day late afternoon only 5/6 tables the most. Asking for our teapot to be filled up with... More

Our son and family took us here during our recent visit. Very elegantly decorated, and has an upscale feel to it. I have no prior knowledge of this restaurant. The food was very good, and much better than I am accustomed to in the States. The service was a bit disjointed, meaning that different people came and went to the... More

A classy restaurant decorated with a strong sense of genuine chinese culture. The food is delicious and well presented. Their hall of fame showcases their politicians and pop stars customers. Definitely will come again for decent Chinese food.

The food is reasonably good but they let themselves down on several counts: the room, in December, was not warm enough, the food went cold quickly. Service was amateur and the staff seemed to have difficulty understanding basic English. We had to ask for drinks several times, the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We complained... More

I reviewed this restaurant a year ago and gave it four stars. So what has changed? Basically it's more expensive and the service was terrible. Staff were disinterested in providing us with a good dining experience. Granted they were busy but even getting a glass of water was a trial, let alone more pancakes for the crispy duck. Food was... Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
