Located above Burough Market next to London Bridge. It's a great place to have a business dinner. Catch a pint downstairs at one of the many pubs at Burough Market and then have dinner at Roast. The Restaurat has a very cool design with normal British dishes like Fish & Chips to more interesting stuff. There is something for everyone... More

It was my idea to come here with six friends on Sunday. Acutely embarrassed by how poor the food was. My starter had unpleasantly raw beans in it. For a restaurant that calls itself Roast you would think they could produce a fabulous potato- sadly not on Sunday - I ate half a one. My lamb was overcooked almost to... More

We visited thus restaurant as a party of 4, we had cocktails in the bar area first as arrived early for our table, great selection of cocktails offered, not the cheapest but you are in London and it's a restaurant not a bar. We all had the same starter the scotch egg which was devine, we had a mixture of... More

The food was nice enough but I can think of at least 10 other restaurants in London that offer better value for money, a far better atmosphere and just as good or better food. The wine is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. £50 for an average bottle of Malbec is a joke, frankly.

Roast has a long standing tradition of fresh food, not at least because it's on top of borough market. I've been here twice in the last month, once breakfast and once lunch. The food is very good indeed and with all its glass and views over the market is a good place to meet. I was thinking about taking my... More

I have been to the Roast on a number of occasions and each time it has been an excellent experience. The food has always been of a high quality (albeit from a rather limited choice), the service extremely attentive and the setting above Borough Market adds to the vibrant atmosphere. The only issue is that it is invariably overpriced -... More

Have been going to Roast for many years. It looks great and it was always a good reliable place with a solid traditional British menu, all well sourced. But the menu feels a bit tired now. The descriptions vastly oversell some very ordinary dishes, which are not well cooked.

We dined in the evening. It was very busy but a good atmosphere enhanced by a very good singer/ guitarist playing a variety of familiar pop songs. The main courses are in the £20 - £35 range. We had the lamb which was very tasty as was the pork belly. The desert choices were good would recommend the Pimms trifle.... More

An airy light venue filled to the brim with guests. I would suggest you book a table. I think there is a lift but if you have problems with stairs please check access. The food was most tasty and well presented. For four of us us it cost 120 pounds although we did have more than one course.

Nestled in the heart of Britain's culinary culture, Roast is a landmark British restaurant in London's iconic Borough Market. Opened in 2005 by restauranteur Iqbal Wahhab OBE, founder of the legendary Cinnamon Club, Roast has won acclaim and awards across the UK. Using the finest seasonal produce from British farmers and producers, many of the ingredients used by Head Chef Stuart Cauldwell come from Borough Market's very own stalls. Spaciously set over two levels, the restaurant seats 120 with a view of our busy kitchen, The Shard, St Paul's and the market below. Alongside the dining room is the intimate Bar at Roast. Loved by diners and drinkers alike, the bar buzzes away until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Every night and at Sunday lunch, live music plays here and sets the ambience across the restaurant. Perfect for all occasions, Roast is popular for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a wide range of events, from meetings and corporate entertaining to spectacular weddings and civil partnerships.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
