Huge surprise: it is closed. Does anyone know why it closed or where they might reopen? This is a huge loss to the neighbourhood

We have been here before and loved it! However on attempting to contact The Star of India in late September/ early October 2017 we could reach them either via phone or their website. This wonderful restaurant appears to have closed. Passing it on the street...More

The star of India has archived something that you find very rarely in Indian Cousine. You will be served traditional courses but every dish is very carful thought through again from the chef and slightly changed. This in no fusion kitchen though. You get a...More

After eating our fill of fish and chips and scones, we needed our fix of Indian food. While Brick Lane is the place to go to for curries galore, we opted to stay near our rented flat (in South Kensington) and stumbled on this place....More

This is a very good Indian restaurant, not cheap but the quality if the food is worth it. The service is average but it's worth it. They fixed up the inside a couple of years ago so now it's nice. Recommended!

Quite clearly this place has seen better days. Food was awful and lacked flavour. Liked just one dish of the 4 ordered. While staff is professional, they force one to overorder. Portions are small and miserly, especially given the price. Really not a value for...More

We have been coming to the Star of India for years and the food is still delicious but the service is less than mediocre and the most senior waiter was just rude but the nail in the coffin was being charged £40 (£10 per head)...More

We come often to this restaurant and the food is consistently good, light, aromatic. Tandoori prawns were just wonderful, and so were the tandoori broccoli. Chettinad chicken curry good but not as spicy as usual. This is not a cheap Indian, nor is one of...More

South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque
white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's
easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with
superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and
Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely
child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to
mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall)
such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming
