This is a very atmospheric place under the arches in Southwark in the back streets near Borough Market. We used this for a pre-conference dinner and it was a resounding success. The food was good, the drinks varied and plentiful. The staff struggled with serving...More

Recently visited with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. Service was attentive but not rushed. Food was decent and quite a good variety of options including veg and fish. Wine list extensive, as expected, and the 'house' red that we had was very...More

We live nearby and like explore the endless option the area has to offer. We decided to try Cantina because looked quiet, I know the museum and they have a very interesting menu with promotion exposed outside. We decide to walk in and give it...More

Lovely lunch with friends at a buzzing restaurant. Food fresh and tasty, staff very attentive. Nicely timed service, as it was a catch up with dear friends, so we didn't feel rushed.

Booked to eat here following a wine tasting with Laithwaites in the complex, so sorry they are closing at the end of the year. If you can get in it is worth it to experience the wonderful brick arches. The food is very good and...More

We were lured in by the menu on the door, which had five or six mains and a similar number of starters, and looked good. The setting, in huge vaults under the railway, is also really impressive. Inside, we were given three long menus (a...More

This was part of the Vinopolis experience and was above expectations. You have a choice of 2 or 3 course menus with a decent spread of offerings. The restaurant was half full when we arrived and there was a bit of a wait but the...More

Had Sunday lunch here followed by a wine tasting in Vinopolis. Food was fantastic! We were also evacuated due to a fire alarm mid way through lunch and the staff handled the situation really well. Would definitely recommend.

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Cantina Vinopolis restaurant in London by the Thames under the huge Victorian railway arches at Bankside is the public restaurant of the Vinopolis wine museum. You know you’ll find a blistering selection of interesting wines, but you should also know you’ll be enjoying terrific modern European cuisine with more than a nod to the flavours of the Mediterranean. There’s no signature dish, just a serious focus on freshly prepared steaks, chicken, fish and salads with flavourful, simple side dishes. The smart casual restaurant makes the most of its setting with light wood tables, open kitchen, and easy contemporary décor under the soaring arches. Cantina Vinopolis spreads the love of wine at regular wine tastings and dinners.
