Sarastro is a Turkish Restaurant with a difference. The food is good but the restaurant itself is an eye opener! Little balconies and booths like a Turkish palace. At 8.30pm there is a live 'show' - we had a string quartet followed by Opera which was fantastic! (Sunday)

Had dinner here with some American friends as I wanted somewhere quirky and eccentric. Setting and decor did not disappoint. It was very quiet on a wet Monday evening but the meal was delicious, particularly the Belgian chocolate box pudding. Not a cheap eat but a nice place to spend an evening

This restaurant has the wow factor. Amazing quirky decor..like something i have never seen before. Our table was on a balcony and the view over the whole restaurant was wonderful. The service was good and staff were friendly. The starters were really tasty, but let me tell you, if you are a lover of lamb, the Shank is the best... More

Take an interior imported direct from Ankh Morpork, add some rather good Turkish cuisine, plus live classical music and opera while you eat and don't forget the kamasutra decor in the washrooms, (as if you could), and there you have Sarastro. Completely bonkers, but great fun. Recommended.

When you arrive you think you are in a different world! You could expect to see Dickens or Shakespear sitting in a corner. The menu was an excellent range of choices covering light, vegetarian, wholesome and interesting. The lamb shank was excellent as was the stuffed aubergine . Nice starters. The service was friendly but slow. The desert of an... More

I visited here on a Sunday night with my partner. I was a bit nervous as it was a surprise for his birthday and some of the reviews had mentioned the food not being great but they were wrong, the food was fantastic and a reasonable price. Service was good and the setting is so unusual and it makes your... More

I took my girlfriend to Sarastro for a pre-valentines meal. The place is decorated fantastically and is very different to any restaurant I've eaten in before. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help with drink and food choices. The food was very tasty and the portions are good. We shared the mixed grill and is was... More

Service was wonderful. Food was great all round except sadly disappointing for the vegan member of our party. Obviously vegans are used to not being catered for. However they are a growing market and all hope that chefs will begin to start recognising what their very simple, straightforward requirements are and offer some options.

Description
Filled with opera luvvies, tourists and eccentric Londoners, Sarastro has earned itself an iconic reputation in London's West End for its opulent decor and flamboyant food. Part decorative stage set, part bric-a-brac store, the dining room at Sarastro - which is located in Drury Lane - features crushed velvet tablecloths, cosy booths and semi private opera booths seating on the theatrical mezzanine level overlooking the restaurant. This charismatic setting is a dining experience you won't forget, and the menu is Mediterranean with a nod towards Turkey. Classic dishes include the lamb shank, the grilled sea bass and the pan-fried mussels in tomato sauce.
