We had been to Silka a couple of times before and so we were really looking forward to our visit - and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We were a group of six and from walking through the door the welcome couldn't have been warmer and the safety measures in place were really reassuring - the hand sanitiser on the table was a nice touch I haven't seen before. The waiter was extremely patient while our group was spending more time catching up than looking at the menu and made really good recommendations. The food was excellent and to top it all off there was a 30% discount on our bill from a promotion they are running.
We had such a fantastic time and are looking forward to returning when we can as a group. In the meantime, we're planning to visit with our households to carry on supporting this business as we couldn't fault anything! See you soon!

We came here because of Trip Advisor Reviews. We were not disappointed. Un-assuming entrance, and stairs down, reveal a simple dining set up, with the best Indian Food around, we are specialists at cooking Indian food at home, Silka lived up to our expectations, with a great service from Juber and Raj

I ordered yesterday a take-away from Silka (via Deliveroo) and was delighted with the food and the service. I recommend the Shashlik Paneer Main, which is delicious. The Onion Bhajis are also particularly good, crunchy outside but soft inside. Very attentive team also gave us a small free sample of an outstanding Saag Paneer (will remember and add it to my basket next time!). Definitely recommended and I will come back too!

Dear Cecilia,
Thank you for your review. We are delighted you were happy with your takeaway order and it pleases us to read such positive comments after being closed for so long as a result of Covid-19. Thanks for your support and we will pass on your comments to the chef telling him you particularly enjoyed the Saag Paneer. Thanks for the recommendation and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Kind regards

Visited this restaurant after seeing some good reviews but they had no music, so all the guests were shouting to be heard. Painful to be in this sort of environment, my ears are still hurting. Slow service for the waiters to take orders and then almost an hour to be served ANY food. The main course took just as long to come and was not worth the wait. Left immediately after we had scoffed our food as the atmosphere was unbearable. We were in a rush to just be out of there and were charged over £75 for what items that we had not ordered and an optional service charge that was definitely not a reflection of the service that was given. Another group had also given up and were asking to settle the bill for what they had eaten although the waiters were reluctant to only charge what had been eaten. Absolutely awful experience, will NOT go here again.

Together with my partner we decided to order from Silka to celebrate our anniversary. Our choice was based on good opinions and wide variety of dishes.
We got three cans of Coke zero for free which was really nice and the food arrived hot. We were very happy until we got to try the food. It wasn't the worst, it was okay-ish. The main problem was that for four pieces of lamb or chicken we got a pint of sauce. We paid £15 for Prawn Moilee and had only 4 prawns in it. The food looks totally different from the gallery on their website and is completely not worth the money. There are many more better Indian restaurants in London with much better food for similar price. Will never order again from Silka, big disappointment on our big night.

My friends and I had dinner here on Thursday, which was my first visit here. The place was fairly busy, but there seemed a reasonable amount of staff around. However, we found our service was extremely slow. The time between ordering our food and receiving it was probably well in excess of 45 mins. To add insult to injury we received an extra mushroom rice we didn’t order and never got our onion bhajis. I’m also not convinced my main was the one I ordered, but everyone else got theirs correctly and it was the last one left so I accepted it.
The food itself was good and I don’t think it’s overly priced compared to other places. That being said I wasn’t around when the bill arrived as I had to get a train and it was again taking a long time for them to get around to us.
Not ideal, but perhaps just a bad night with a few mistakes. I’d consider going back, but might book earlier in case service was slow again.

Jimbo,
Thank you for the review you have left us. As you have said we were busy on the night you dined with us and when we are busy, service levels fluctuate. We have re-iterated service with our staff in training and we are endeavouring to ensure it is always the best. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and we do hope you will dine with us again soon.

The staff are extra friendly and helpful in here and the food is beautifully presented and tastes fresh and delicious. We chose a couple of dishes we hadn't heard of before which was exciting (eg chicken chenai which was a luscious spicy and creamy curry) as well as some classics like samosas and chicken jalfrezi. There is a great selection of vegetarian options with a special section on the menu devoted to a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Everything we had was fresh and well-cooked, really beautifully presented and tasted amazing. It's also a very reasonably priced restaurant located right by the entrance/exit to the tube station which makes it so handy. I would highly recommend a visit here and would love to go there again myself.

Me and a few friends were looking for a friendly restaurant with good food and nice atmosphere. We didn't have to look further - Silka was the place to be in! With staff that made us feel comfortable and like home from the beginning, outdoor space for people like me that want to enjoy the summer breeze and a great indoor space, delicious food I may dream about for some time, we had a great night out and almost felt like getting back to normal. I would definitely recommend this restaufant and cannot stress enough how good the food and quality of service was, it is a must to visit.

Don't be misled by the humble presence on the otherwise eccentric strip by Borough Market - this restaurant is just as amazing as the other restaurants in the neighborhood. We were initially hoping to get into Padella next door, but given its limited seating/wait we decided to try Silka instead. Best decision!! The food is delicious - we tried quite a few starters and mains, and each was recommended to us perfectly by the friendly staff (Abs was a fantastic host!). Just the right mix of flavour and spice. Patio seating made it comfortable in the pandemic era, and the pricing was great too with the Eat Out to Help Out offer. Highly recommend!!

Located right in Borough market this is a brilliant indian. The food has a lovely fresh feel, it's not too heavy or oily but still feels like a good indian! Highly recommend the starters' Okra fries and the bhajis. The service is lovely, albeit we did have to wait a little while for our drinks (but it was a Saturday night) my one thing to flag is that they could do with some outdoor heaters for the evenings as some of the other Borough restaurants have them so wrap up warm!

Caroline,
Thanks for the glowing review. We are delighted you enjoyed your dining experience with us. Our chef thanks you for the compliments. We have worked hard to create menu that offers traditional but with a modern twist. The Okra fries are our newest addition to the menu and certainly are becoming popular. Thanks for your feedback and we have noted your comments.
Please note indoor dining resumes 17th May and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon.
Thanks

Great meal. So close to London Bridge station, food quality and portions were perfect and pricing was very good especially for London. One of the best Tika Masalas I’ve had. Staff very friendly and care about their food, all plated very nicely. I can’t drink beer so it was very nice to have a good quality wine with my meal as well. Only 4/5 stars as the interior could do with some revamp, food was 5/5 though. Suggestion - the curries with cream should be able to be made with coconut milk for those who prefer no dairy.

One dish we ordered was great, but the other, chicken tikka masala, was drowning in sauce that was way too heavy on tomatoes (tasted like spaghetti sauce). Appetizers (sag paneer and especially the samosas) were good. Naan was delicious. The wine was a generous pour. Service was personal and attentive. Prices seemed a little high overall.
Because the restaurant is in a basement, it’s lacking in atmosphere (they could really use some plants or mirrors or at least a host stand). We had a hard time finding the door and the entrance was not very enticing. But the atmosphere was relaxed and convivial and everyone there seemed to be having a good time.

Dear shell202020,
Thanks for leaving us a review. We are delighted you had an enjoyable dining experience with us. However, it seems you were a little disappointed. The Chicken Tikka dish, we are surprised at your comments as this is one of the most popular dishes on the menu. Did you raise your concern with a member of staff when it was served? Had we been made aware of this at the time we would have rectified immediately.
While we are a basement restaurant we have tried our best to make inviting and welcoming to all diners that walk through the doors. We do hope to welcome you again once the current crisis allows us to.
Meanwhile stay safe and see you again
Regards

I received an email confirming my booking and the restaurant had no record of it. They begrudgingly gave us a seat at the back of the restaurant. This wasn’t too much of an issue as the whole seating area was very dark, dingy and cramped, with no windows. The food was greasy. After 25 minutes we hadn’t been served or even acknowledged at our table. We asked the waiter for a drinks order, and he proceeded to serve two more tables and then ignored us. How this is 192 in London is ridiculous. It is in a fabulous market with so many other options, with nicer drinks, cuisine and atmosphere. The fact we had a 5 year old with us was clearly an issue despite the restaurant being “family friendly”. Such a claim is laughable. You’d be better off going to a Michelin star Indian or to Brick Lane, Sicka is very overrated

We were drawn to this restaurant for its vegetarian selection. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding and despite the restaurant being absolutely packed (they were turning people away at the door) the staff were efficient and ghe food came quickly. The staff themselves could not do enough to help us and were cheerful and happy.
The bill was a pleasant surprise too with a generous selection of mains and started for 5 adults coming in ar less the £40 a head. That included copious large bottles of cobra beer also.
Cant recommend hughly enough.. We will be back! X

Myself and my husband went to Silka for dinner and were blown away by the amazing food, warm hospitality of the staff and attention to detail. The restaurant offered a vegetarian/vegan selection of meals, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that almost all their (meat-based) curries can be made vegan as well. The food was delicious, and very well priced for a restaurant situated so near to Borough market.
The manager (unfortunately didn't get his name) was fantastic and our waiter Juber was incredibly friendly and attentive. We will certainly be back.

Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
