Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Let’s face it, it’s rare to find anywhere in London serving a 3 course meal for £22. The pub next door sells burgers for 18.50 and the service is way less attentive. La Cage is a real gem, frozen in time. Don’t come here if...you’re looking for Michelin quality food. Come here if you’re looking for tasty, home cooking served by wonderful, friendly staff in a quaint and calm setting. Can’t wait to return.More

My friend and I used to go for Sunday lunch every month. We hadn't met up for ages. Lunch on Thursday was as perfect as ever. 2 or 3 courses. My friend had French onion soup, chicken and creme brule + beer. I had a...huge tender steak, potatoes and green veg and tarte tatin + delicious red wine. The dining room is crisp, clean and cheerful and the staff are welcoming. We will return soon for my friend's birthday.More

We have been to this restaurant in the past and had a good experience. Based on this, we booked a table to take our family there to celebrate our Silver Wedding anniversary. We had someone in our party who was vegan. I had spoken to...the chef on 3 occasions before we went to discuss what she could provide as a vegan option. She asdured me this would not be a problem. She also asked each time if it was a special occasion and I said it was our Silver Wedding. When we arrived I reminded the waitress there was a vegan in our party and she said the chef would conjure something up. We then waited an hour for our starters. The vegan starter was a very small bland salad. We then waited a considerable time for our main course. Again the vegan meal was bland and disappointing. 4 small stuffed tomatoes. The only vegetable provided with the meal was green beans. I had a total of 3 beans and another of our party had 4. We requested more beans to which the waitress, who had been sullen and unwelcoming throughout, pulled a face but eventually bought more beans to the table. All in all it was a miserable and disappointing experience when it should have been a special celebration. We asked to speak to the chef/manager who was then defensive and rude even though I had spoken to her 3 times beforehand to discuss the request for a vegan meal. I would strongly recommend you avoid this restaurant. There are many others in the area who are more worthy of your custom. It was a terrible experience and ruined our special day with family.More

By chance we reserved at this little restaurant for a quiet dinner with my partner. I had read carefully the past reviews and discussed them with the charming proprietor and her daughter who served our table. But first I must say we were very warmly...received by the Roman woman owner and had a very nice quiet table as requested. (I noted there is a larger table in the bay window overlooking the pretty cobbled stone street perfectly located in lovely Hampstead just off the Highstreet.) Anyway the reviews had said the filet steak was excellent and indeed it was. Likewise the pasta my partner had. And the starter of foie gras was truly superb. As well the house wines we had red and white by the glass and they were quite good. Finally being Swiss we felt we just try the crème brûlée and it was just like in the alps. So with the wonderful service and also very reasonable cost, (my Calvinist side) we very highly recommend La Cage.More

If you want to be shared and shouted at you, then you are here. We were deceived by 15 pounds and instead of sorry, a woman, a kitchen worker in dirty clothes and dirty nails, screamed a lot and tried to accuse us that we...noticed that we were sheathed. we ordered 3 main courses and 3 appetizers, they have a price of 23.95 for 2 courses , while on the check they indicated 3*2=23.95*3=71.95 euros plus again 2 appetizers 15? we asked for the return of 15 pounds, which they illegally took, instead this zheshchiga sat down at the table and began to write a new bill with a pen, shouting! what we did not waste time on and told her - this is on your conscience. before that, the husband was brought bloody veal chops, which resembled pork, and the waitress, I think she is a daughter of this old women, was not very courteous, poured muda shotra with food and did not even apologize, and they did not even have wet wipes. result: a terrible experience, modern lack of culture, rudeness, disrespect for the client and the desire to deceive, this is the conclusion after visiting the restaurant, I am very surprised that they are still working.More

Quality of food was poor. We had an onion soup for starters. It was very watery en tasted sour. After a couple of spoons we send it back to the kitchen. The waitress was fine but we got no response from the kitchen or the...owner. I'm sure we were not the only ones complaining. Mains were okay, seabass had a watery sauce, fruit salad was just pieces of fruit with a bit of ice cream. Nothing stood out, nothing to come back forMore

Appalling treatment as experienced by the last customer. I went into the restaurant in the afternoon and spoke to Alice and booked for myself and my family at the outside table. We were assured that this is where we would be seated. When we returned...just before 7.30, our table had been given to someone else. I questioned this and there was no apology or explanation. I wouldn’t trust booking here again. I was saddened and disappointed by our experience.More

We arrived at 7:20 to be pointed to a table inside when we’d booked outside and called to let them know we’d be late. We finally understood they’d given our table to someone else by mistake but were somehow trying to hide it instead of...simply apologising. The faintly accusatory and unapologetic way in which this was handled set the tone for the rest of the evening with the young woman serving us deserving of a gold medal for absolute worse waitressing in London. Because the place looks lovely and someone left 15 minutes after we’d arrived (we were finally sat outside) we patiently waited for our food. The starter came in about 45 minutes in but we were still ok with it. Around 9 pm - one and a half hour after coming in - we asked twice when our mains would be served. The waitress finally said she’d check with the kitchen and did not even come back to tell us! We decided to up and leave and paid for our drinks, refusing to pay for the starters since at no point the waitress even apologise in any way. Had this been handled by a human being we may have accepted the delays, but instead we were subjected to some robot with the worse attitude one can expect from a waitress. We only just moved to Hampstead literally 5 minutes from this place and we now know where to NOT eat.More

Staying in Hampstead for a few days and came across this little beauty by accident. Located beside the Flask Pub, the bistro specialises in French cuisine. Choice of 6/7 starters and mains beautifully cooked and presented. Portions are generous and service is excellent. The restaurant...itself is tastefully decorated in Bistro style and is extremely welcoming. Prices are very reasonable... we paid less than £100 for a two course meal including a bottle of house wine, coffees, digestif and service. Overall a lovely night out for a great price.More
