Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Torrid food experience. I paid a £10 deposit to secure a table beforehand but when I arrived 40 minutes early no one could find my booking or table for 20 minutes. When eventually the table and booking was found we were told that they had...run out of Sunday Dinners (the only thing on the menu). They claimed they had tried to ring me to reserve some food (they hadn’t) and then they said they had emailed me as well. When I check, they had emailed me about the food situation, while I was at the bar waiting for my table. Eventually they cobbled together some scraps of a dinner with what they had left, there was no vegetarian options left so they said they could do something with cauliflower cheese. The food was cold when it arrived and when we were charged for it they didn’t take off the £10 deposit I had already paid and also had the cheek to charge us full price for both meals plus extra for the cauliflower cheese! After we’d finished we enquired about dessert as we were still hungry from what was essentially a plate of vegetables for £18, and we were told the kitchen was not shut. Then to top it off they ran out of the beer we were drinking. Shocking experience overall really.More

The barmaid tried to charge me 70 pounds for a 17 pound bill on the card machine. Now that is a difficult mistake to make. No slip of the fingers. Very fast presentation of the machine to me and I slowed her down to view...the amount before bringing my card near. And I challenged her on it. She corrected the amount in a non apologetic and arrogant way which told me they do this habitually. Avoid this place at all costs!More

We went to The Lock tavern for a late night drink. I ordered a beer and my partner ordered an Espresso Martini. While I was waiting for the cocktail, i was was watching the barman. He opened a suspiciously dirty container, which looked putrid. He...then poured this "liquid" into her Martini. I thought nothing of it at the time. We went home sometime later, where, my partner was violently sick several times. You need to know this.More

Love this pub….it’s my favourite Camden venue. Visited with my wonderful son for an early evening meal, as per the staff were excellent BUT the food very very disappointing….I ordered the Caesar salad which I have to say was more than disappointing…limp lettuce, stale croutons..., one egg and 2 of the smallest anchovies …. I should have sent it back when it turned up looking like a poor excuse of a salad….let’s hope it improves next time…….my sons Fish and chips was equally as weak but let him leave his own review. Apart from that I still like the venue and the staff , just have a word with the kitchen…….xxMore

It's rare I find myself wanting to write a review of a night from a few weeks ago. I've been to the Lock Tavern before, and every single time I go completely outdoes the last time. Rahela was a delight and Muna was an absolute...diamond. To call you ladies professional, kind, courteous, friendly, bubbly and welcoming would be an understatement. The drinks kept flowing and I had a wonderful time with my family. I absolutely loved my time here, again, and a huge thanks to the staff for the joy of their company at many brief points through the night! Fabulous drinks + Wonderful staff and a Hot fireplace - what more could you ask for!? All the best,More

We popped into The Lock Tavern ahead of our Peaky Blinders immersive experience across the road at Camden. Whilst we didn’t eat save for a couple packets of crisps, which was duly washed down with a round of drinks. The food coming out of the...kitchen did look pretty good to be fair HOWEVER post a quick visit to their toilets I certainly won’t be eating there any time soon. They were in a word disgusting. They smelt, had paper towels all over and not a drop of soap in sight! After leaving the toilet I reported this to a young lady behind the bar, which didn’t seem to get any response whatsoever. I watched from our table to see if she spoke to anyone after my complaint and she just went on to serve customers drinks as though I hadn’t existed. All very strange indeed.More

I can’t remember how to spell her name but mailka is the most amazing waitress. She was so polite and amazing to our very large groups needs. So positive and smiley and nothing was an issue. Can’t thank her enough for making our experience here...amazing!! Thank you ❤️More

Last Saturday night, I left the house and headed straight to the Lock Tavern to meet friends I was spending NYE with. I was stopped at the entrance by a bouncer telling me I was intoxicated and was refused the entrance. I certainly wasn't drunk,...as I had only ONE can of beer before heading to the venue. While I was refused, I saw other customers visibly drunk, going in and out of the bar. When I confronted the bouncer, he rudely said he doesn’t care and he is not letting me in. While trying to get a real reason why am I not being let in, new bar manager arrived, Mr Anthony Pinkerton. To my shock he was even more rude and dismissive. I suggested calling police to confront their accusations of me being intoxicated which he replied to that by calling me an idiot and assuring me police won’t come. You have to question their real intentions behind their reasoning. Perhaps me being Latina with red dyed hair had something to do with it. I suggest to anyone to avoid this place as pub manager and door stuff display clear biased attitude to ‘certain’ people they not happy to see at their venue. See other comments left by people who received similar treatment. Beware!More

Mysoginistic aggressive bouncers causing problems among punters for no reason except for being on a power trip (young Asian man in particular). Our group of 12 left along with a separate group of six, due to his behaviour. Will never go back there.

Nice roast but service not quite, bit cheeky to have service charge when you have to do everything yourself, plate was a bit small for the price

We had an amazing time for a post work social for about 70 people and highly recommend this pub for private functions. The cocktail bar and outdoor terrace are great for big groups. The food was brilliant, came out in good time and in batches...which was exactly what was needed. The wide selection of drinks and the organisation of the bar was also really good. The bar staff and the manager were awesome hosts and created a really chilled atmosphere. They were really flexible with changing out some pre-ordered drinks and were friendly throughout!! Great hospitality all round :DMore

Not to be confused with the 'lockside' - which is more of a small loft nightclub, the Lock tavern is right next to camden market with a nice garden and roof terrace. A good range of beers and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Beer...is not outrageously priced and you can easily spend way longer in here than you intend! A great stop-off point if you are heading for the camden brewery tour too!More

Terrible service (ordered a bottle, had to go get glasses ourselves). Been asked if we wanted to eat something, I go to the bar to order and they say the kitchen is closed… at 8.40pm… on a Saturday. Ridiculous

Stumbled upon this place on a visit to Camden and what a great find it was - we had two burgers and two of the starters as sides and the food was beautiful. I would recommend the pork belly bites, it is a big portion...and still we were left wanting more. Thought the prices for food and drinks were reasonable considering location and the quality. We sat upstairs just inside of the roof terrace which was nice and quiet for us. The only slight let down was the lack of table service so we had to keep going back downstairs to order drinks, not easy then carrying them back upstairs when it is a narrow staircase and other people are passing! There is a bar in the room we were sat but it wasn’t open (appreciate they may open it if this room is busier). Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a quick stop off for a bite to eat/drinks.More

by far the most we paid for a drink, in a basic pub, it doesnt normally bother me but they were so unfriendly without being rude, I am familiar with the Lock Tavern since 1980s, used to be much nicer
