Standard bar is on the top but downstairs you'll find the club/live music cave, often with an entry fee of 6-8 pounds. Very small and cosy, ideal for a date, good sound system despite the stage is in the corner of two corridors (so go secure the nearest to the stage to have a good view!) Headliners were the Hamiltons,... More

A really great place. The staff is friendly. The music shows will give you a chance to confidentially see good singers before they will become more known. The food is acceptable, albeit i did not tasted too much, mostly enjoying the shows.

Central location combined with above average, good value for money food with friendly staff in a cozy and grungy setting. Good for group parties as the restaurant area is lively and can accommodate rather extrovert groups. Also good for dates, however not for first dates as the venue may be lively at times. There is also a good bar by... More

Came with friends, ended up eating a huge, tasty hamburger, and some really delicious french fries. Even one of my friends commented, These fries are so good, I can't stop eating them! I thought a tad pricey for a burger and fries but delicious none the less! We paid separately to go downstairs to hear that evenings entertainment. Can't remember... More

I was craving French Toast, so my wife said that she had found a great spot in our neighborhood for us to try for Brunch...We arrive, I ordered French Toast. The French Toast comes to the table and it is literally a sliced of bread drenched in syrup with a tiny portion of almond butter on top. 1 slice of... More

I intended on spending the morning here after hearing about the history of the place which is steeped in music culture (Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bert Jansch, Van Morrison to name a few) However, I ended up staying for lunch.....tea and, yes you guessed it, dinner too. I just couldn't leave! The coffee was delicious (comes from local roasters in... More

I love this place, it's unusual and quite unique. Almost next door to my favourite cemetery in Brompton Road. Popped in for coffee in their lovely secret garden at the back of the cafe in summer. Then more recently for a cup of tea and a long chat with some of the lovely people who work there. Sorry I could't... More

My husband and I were in London for the weekend and staying near this restaurant. Their door caught my eye first and made me look in. It looks interesting from the outside. We went in the next day for breakfast and were so pleased we did. I had a fried egg with smashed Avocado on feta. The combination was delicious,... More

Just went to the Troubadour for lunch and was straight away approached by an extremely rude lady who was very abrupt...when we were given the menu we were surprised it wasn't the menu we usually saw when we went and so asked if there was another menu and the lady in question was extremely rude and sarcastic in her responses.... Description
'With more soul than a millipede wearing size 17 boots, ceilings and walls strewn with the instrumental heirlooms of a bygone bohemia, this 50s cafe screams throw-back. Successfully and audaciously blending 50s coffee bar, wine bar, club, music venue and breakfast bar with an easy smoothness, this live music haven is the cornerstone of Old Brompton Road, which has refreshingly resisted the modern humdrum of high street homogeny. Comfort and conviviality ooze as you can sup European classic wine offerings or New World fare, nurse a hot chocolate or bury your face in an omelette big enough to swallow you whole.' Alex HomerThe Troubadour, established in 1954, has gently expanded to include a larger cafe and live music club, an award winning garden, a specialist wine shop and comfy wine bar, a great gallery for exhibitions and parties and lastly a luxurious serviced appartments, The Garret, at the top of the building & The Eleanor on the floor below. A great place to relax while the world passes you by....
