A friend brought me here for a pre-theater dinner and it was exactly what I wanted. We shared a meat platter and a cheese platter, had a very nice bottle of wine and enjoyed chatting with the very friendly staff. The food was great (I could have eaten the bread all night...) and it was a nice, comfortable place. I... More

We stopped by for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised to get a table without booking, though it was a Sunday afternoon. The flavours were delicious and everything was delivered to a good standard in a nice relaxed environment. I would like to come back for dinner in the week and see if the evening menu is as delicious.

A nice place, good service and good food. Staff more likely to be Brasilian than Portuguese and there is more than a twist of Brasil to the menu, but this cafe cum bistro is open for breakfast through to dinner. Good Portuguese food, freshly prepared. Nice decor and deservedly popular for 'shopping lunches' or pre-theatre supper. A tad pricey but... More

Service was good but communication was poor. Two of our party we told a dish was a sharing one but it was far from it and so was too small. Extra bread was requested but not given as a good will gesture. This did mar the experience. We were charged quite a lot for the extra bread on the bill... More

Nice simple decor. Nice wines. Average, bland food - my main (Portuguese beef stew, which was dish of the day) had a decent amount of nice beef in it, but was bland and served lukewarm, "Canela’s Classic Salt Cod, Potato and Egg" was in fact a kedgeree type dish with tiny amount of fish it in, also lukewarm! At least... More

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here but the best part came later when the owner called to let me know I'd left my computer behind. We enjoyed delicious and authentic Portuguese dishes including Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa featuring delicious flakes of dried, salted cod. The manager, Maggie Kapalita, really went the extra Mike to make sure... More

I was looking for a place to have a black coffee with pastel de nata. Not easy to find a proper black coffee in London ( can't blame as tea is the national drink), I poped in Canela I was straight away welcomed by a charming person who guaranteed me that his coffee would just be like I usually drink... Portuguese cafe serving nice sandwiches and traditional dishes. Bacalhao a bras (salted cod with chips and scramble eggs) was very nice. They also have the dish of the day. The service was ok and the prices reasonable.

The venue is woody and warm, the staff very helpful and the food, oh the food. Absolutely fresh and tasty, the recipes come directly from Portugal and you can tell it: dishes I never heard about made with hardly known ingredients. The result is brilliant. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED

Whilst quality of the food is good for the price. The size of the dishes have declined year on year and whilst my pork dish came with clams, in reality it was just the shells and No clams in sight. Wine list looks good, but reality check - stock limited to three out of 10+. Staff are good, but should... More
