Good atmosphere, very pleasant staff. Excellent value of £9.95 for two course set menu . A la carte menu also keenly priced. Would return again when in London

It was nice to see a small restaurant specialising in French food, just off the route of the Capital Ring walk. The service is friendly and prompt, my Porc au Gratin was tasty, as was the wife's goat cheese salad, and overall we were pleased with the meal. They do a set meal for about £10 which seemed very good... More

We have been coming to this restaurant over the past 3 years. Food is good and we like the daily menu. Service is friendly and food is good. It can get busy at the weekends so it is worth booking a table (ring them directly as they may have tables for slots that come up as busy online). Fish and... More

Had breakfast here this morning with wife and son who now lives in nearby Streatham Hill and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definately recommend.

After Hannah's Big 30th Party last night, some of us walked over to The French Cafe this morning for a delightful post-party breakfast. It were splendid. Nice atmosphere, nice decor, friendly service but, above all, simply splendid properly cooked full-plateful breakfasts. Loved it! Thanks to everyone at The French Cafe

Doesn't get much better than this for the price. Prix fixe at 9.95 with a starter and main is always a winner. Kids menu is good too (though some vegetables would be a nice addition to the kids dishes). We had poor service here on our first visit but our subsequent 30+ visits have always been a pleasure. The atmosphere... More

Lovely cafe/restaurant. Went for dinner on Monday night. The prix fixe menu for £9.95 is very good value for money. I had the belly pork with mash and green beans which was not part of the prix fixe menu. My husband had prawn cocktail and beef escalope with mushroom sauce and fried. Food was tasty, really enjoyed the meal. Will... More

This lovely restaurant is a 5 min stroll from Tooting Bec tube and the common It is light and airy with a pretty terrace at the front and a very large eating area inside. The back part being more private and posh with starched white tablecloths The prix fixe menu is £9.99 for 2 large courses and is amazingly good... More

I have visited twice with friends for brunch and I have not been disappointed. The cafe feels very provincial considering it's just off a busy high road. I'm a great fan of poached eggs so I went for the eggs benedict. Everything was perfect and delicious. The staff are friendly but not over familiar. Parking in the area is a... More

Take time to find this very special place. We arrived as a small group of 7 delicate persons after an excellent previous evening and everything was just perfect for us. Thanks to the staff for looking after us so well. What a great breakfast menu. I can recommend everything. We sat close to the front where the sun was streaming... More

Description
Nous aimons The French Caf! Balham just got its own little corner of Paris right on the Ritherdon Road. Marked by a striped awning, patio area and glass frontage The French Caf fills one with a sense of calm before you even step through the door. Inside the very Parisian dcor is given a wry British twist; tiled walls announcing tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee sit well alongside old French advertising posters and specials scribbled in neat cursive on blackboards. Likewise, whilst during the day The French Cafs lively bustle centres around simple breakfasts the full English for one and lunches traditional steak frites, when evening comes the chicer side takes over as the Totterdown crowd take their seats for the more sophisticated but nonetheless traditional French offerings of boeuf bourguignon and cromesquis of salmon and coquilles St Jacques.
