Heading says it all. Browse portraits and follow this with cocktails and lunch whilst enjoying views over the tops of London's landmarks - Nelson's Column and onto the Houses of Parliament. Hard to beat.

The place is amazing. The staff well trained and helpful. It was very crowded the day I was there, but it was a great experience. The view is just something else. The food is great, apart the veggie risotto, which was tasteless.

We enjoyed excellent service at the Portrait Restaurant. Our host, our bartender and our server Matteus made us feel welcome and appreciated! The sea bass with curried lentils is most enjoyable. I was unsure of the combination at first but it was a delight! The view of the rooftops of London is not to be missed - neither is a... More

As part of a surprise birthday lunch, I booked a table at the Portrait restaurant as I wanted to ensure it was a memorable experience. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were welcomed and well looked after. The views across London are stunning and the food is fabulous, but most of all I felt the team made... More

Before the theatre, it's nice to eat, but not too much. Enough to keep going, but not enough to send you to sleep. This place has a simple 2 or 3 course fixed menu meal. The food was well presented and had enough of a portion size to work. At £23 for two courses it's a steal fro central London.... More

Firstly, I really messed the restaurant around - twice rescheduling our booking at short notice to accomodate friends that were coming in from out of town. The team at TPR however were totally accomodating and sweet. In the end we enjoyed afternoon tea (good value vs Hotel options) with fabulous views and a nicely buzzing ambience. Highly recommended.

Jaw dropping views- spectacular service. We had scones and clotted cream and their special house teas. Try the bourbon vanilla tea. We loved it!

We were celebrating a family occasion and the venue proved ideal. The outlook is very impressive, providing a bird's eye view of many of the most iconic buildings in the centre of London. The restaurant has a lively, trendy atmosphere. Throughout our meal the staff were attentive in a non-intrusive way. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. The food... More

so happy we choose this restaurant for our London tea experience. price was very reasonable compared to others we investigated, and it was wonderful in every way. Not a pretentious, stuffy tea service, but still with all the bells & whistles. Decent choice of teas, yummy scones, sweet treats, & sandwiches. the setting is incredible. lucky enough to get a... This is a very high standard restaurant, serving a wide range of excellent food. The restaurant itself is on the top floor of the National Portrait Gallery and affords a spectacular view. It is a venue that is quite unique, an excellent place to meet and entertain people. The cocktails are fabulous !

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
