No need for Dishoom when you have Gopal’s. Amazing food, I will be back with friends and whenever in the area. Thank you.

I really enjoy eating here as the people are friendly and in my opinion much more attentive than servers at other restaurants. portions could be bigger.
Had lunch at Gopals today (our second visit). Here are my thoughts: Service is excellent and friendly. Food came out quickly. Ambiance is nice...the restaurant was surprisingly busy on a Monday afternoon. Food is good: aloo gobi was the best, tandoori roti was good too....Steamed rice was a bit dry and the sabzi was really spicy despite requesting mild spice. My husband liked his chicken (I didn't try it). Prices are decent and location is good so we'll likely return!More
Lovely authentic Indian food. Very tasty. All our party had enjoyed all the dishes Highly recommended. Friendly staff.
"Enjoyed a fantastic chicken biryani at Gopal's of Soho during a post-work visit. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size and delicious flavor. After some mixed experiences with biryani elsewhere, this one came remarkably close to perfection."
Food was very overpriced in my opinion. My starter was very dry, and my main course tasted nothing like I am used to - I eat Indian food regularly in different establishments. Restaurant very quiet at dinner time and as I mentioned, very expensive which...I wouldn't have minded if it reflected the quality of the food. DisappointingMore
Food at best was a 3 out of 5. Service was as expected. The bill appeared over the top, and after examination we realised they tried to charge us twice for one of the meals. An oversight? Not sure, but we reduced our bill by...£40. Suspect they had a quiet night and tried to take advantage.More
Food was fine if overpriced, but hey it’s London. Waiters were sullen and impatient. We ordered plenty of beer, but a polite request for tap water halfway through the meal, which they are legally obliged to provide as a licensed premise, was ignored. 12.5 percent...service charge would be fine if you received good service.More
My wife and I have already experienced the lovely food fayres of this restaurant. We had visited a few years ago in a six person party. On this occasion we visited with close friends and we were not let down. The refurbished restaurant is lovely...and the food surpassed our expectations. Our starters were chosen after a while deliberating and consisted of a prawn kati roll, a chicken tikka, a chicken chaat and an onion bhajia. Four different starters and all so well cooked. Just lovely we all mentioned. Our main choices included a lamb jalfrezi ( superb ), 2 x chicken manchoozi ( superb ) and a chicken tikka masala ( very tasty ) We opted for onion rice, egg rice, plain naan and a keema naan which again were delicious and fresh and light. The flavours of all of our food were delicious and very well spiced, but definitely not over bearing, juts tasty and right.....if only this restaurant was near to home we would be there every week. It is an absolute must for anyone visiting this area who fancies a very nice Indian meal.More
As curry is my favourite dish I wanted to find a curry in London. I was in the area and thought I’d try this one. Curry was nice and so was the naan and rice. The waiter was a bit rude when all we wanted...was tap water. Not too happy about the 12.5% service charge but as a Brit you pay it.More
So after yesterday's disaster it does pay to return. Had a great dinner at Gopal's this evening. Lamb was tender, naan was not over cooked and they even made me some "little" dishes as I was on my own and want a a variation to...taste. Great people, great place.More
This restaurant is pathetic, As a Indian it was my biggest mistake that where is the TOILET. The restaurant people asked me why I have used their TOILET and eyeing like anything that I cant even write here.
The peshwari naan bread was amazing and service was impeccable will definitely go again. Also recommend the spicy fish masala
I have to agree with one of the reviews below. Dinner here last Saturday was very poor. The chicken dish I ordered had barely any chicken - and what there was were tiny pieces - and was otherwise just a bowl of sauce. Naan bread...was tasteless. The waiter who served us (didn't get his name but he had a slight ponytail) could not hide his disdain that we ordered water to drink instead of alcohol. Interestingly, the restaurant was almost empty, which I guess tells you everything. This used to be a good place - sadly that's not the case any longer. It's overpriced (£14.95 for my "chicken" dish) and as such, a rip off.More
Ordered a Chicken Tikka starter and garlic chicken main dish with rice and Garlic nan. Also ordered sparking water. Before ordering I asked specifically to the waiter that I expected a good portion for the main dish given the £17 price. The starter was ok...but small pieces of chicken. As expected the main dish was a small portion. Ridiculous. I asked for more chicken but they only brought more sauce. The thing that pissed me off the most was charging £6 for the bottle of sparking water and then adding £4 service charge. I would save your money at eat at a cheaperr better Indian on Brick lane or West London. Avoid the Soho rip off merchantsMore
