The Great North Wood

Food and ambience

Location and contact

Since 1712 this lovely pub in West Norwood has been a place to gather, socialise & relax. Today its purpose remains exactly the same. The bar's stocked with products we're proud of and the kitchen is a hive of creativity and passion. Our philosophy's pretty simple - keep it quality, local and seasonal. We also have a great beer garden!

This pub is by far the best of the competition in the area. Others are good but here the atmosphere is cosy, friendly, spacious and inclusive, staff are understanding of people with all range of needs, including invisible disability, and are friendly. Drinks are at...More

Had the chicken supreme, chorizo and potato 'stew' nothing like a stew but nice enough and plenty of meat but just very bland. I then ordered the chocolate fondant from the dessert menu but this didn't seem to be on the till (it came up...More

We ordered something billed as ‘Korean vegan burger’. What on earth is that, is it even a thing?? Turns out it is a thing, just a not very nice thing. It is a deep fried Quorn pretend-chicken fillet (the kind you buy in a two...More

I visited this pub with friends. The place is nice and there is a very good atmosphere. We had chicken wings and then I had a charcoal lamb burger. Everything was yummy but the burger was not hot, it was a bit too cold. Anyway...More

Not only was the food cold (like 'dead cold') but we told the staff, the guy came over and put his hand on all the burger buns. He then left them there! This is after we saw him lifting all the buns by the bar...More

Went there recently several times, mostly had soup of a day and sandwich. I need to say that they have really good soups! Also worth to mention that this place is air conditioned, so during those heat waves it's life saver. Worked from there few...More
