Book ahead as it gets very busy! Food is great with amazing grills, especially the lamp chops, and curries for main. We were 7 people and probably ordered too much but it was only £24 each. Also worth noting is that it's bring your own bottle so make sure you show up with something :)

I booked a table for a birthday meal. As soon as we entered the restaurant I couldn't distinguish the staff from the diners. After weaving my way through the crowds I found someone holding a clipboard. Long story short- he didn't look happy and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated by the grumpy... Tayyabs is one of the most super-hyped restaurants in east London so we decided to trek to Whitechapel to see what the fuss was all about. Its a huge space, 80-ish looking with tables rammed together and loads of noisy young students always inside apparently. The wait staff are a joke- loads of shabbily dressed dudes just hanging around on... More

Visited with family last night. We had a reservation for 8pm. On arrival it was nothing short of chaos!. There were people queuing out of yhe door, up the stair and the queues of waiting people were also crammed around tables where people were trying to eat. There must have been around 50 - 60 people waiting. Some had been... More

I often go here simply because they have the best value curries in London. The food is well priced, with a lot of excellent dishes on offer - miles, miles better than anything on Brick Lane. Only slight issue is the service - no one ever smiles and are a little rude, butt the food and value more than makes... More

Tayyabs is deffo one of the great Pakistani restuarants in this part of town, the food is that of legends, especially the biriyani and dry meat although a better choiced name for that dish may have sounded a bit more apertising. If you like mango lassi they do a good job at that too, but the sweet section is a... More

Booked a table for 2 at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The place was heaving with people drinking from bottles of wine waiting in the lobby for a table. Went up to the desk to report in, only to be told to look for a 'little guy in a blue shirt' .... found him 20 mins later. Told him we had... More

Highly recommend this place for the energised, bustling atmosphere and the spicy food. Great menu choice, you can graze on small plates or go for larger dishes. I arrived at 9pm on a Tuesday, a full restaurant but no queue. Service was fast but I didn't feel rushed. I liked the option of bringing my own alcohol, a well stocked... More

Even though we had to wait a while without a reservation, it was worth it. The food here is amazing. We had Lamb chops, Chicken Tikka, Lamb kabobs, all of which were great. If you want to drink though, you will have to go down the street and buy your own.

Thank Scott D

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
