Came with a friend and got the 600 grams of Argentinian steak (assortment of cuts). Steak was delicious, cooked well and came with lovely melted provolone cheese which was really nice to dip the steak in. Waiter also kindly recommended chimichuri sauce for the steak, which was free of charge and went very well. Sweet potato side was nothing special. Quite pricey - but what do you expect for steak in London. Waiters were quite friendly and efficient. Recommend

First meal out since lockdown. A few of our usual places weren't yet open and Santa Maria looked like good place.
Juan made us feel super welcomed from the start, even though we had an early booking (and so the restaurant was quiet at 630pm) but the atmos was good and we had 2 for 1 cocktails.
All 3 starters were just perfection. Incredible juicy but not overpowering Chorizo, delicate cheese parcel in filo pasty, and some powerful melted provolone and crisp breads.
The steaks didn't disappoint and after Juans recommendation I had the best Ribeye I think eve ever had. Perfectly cooked and the fat just melted in the mouth. My GFs fillet was stunning as well. Argentine touches like the chimi-churri really made it as well!
Overall this meal really opened our eyes to how good Steak can be, especially from a an independent place. Will 100% return soon!

We came in this restaurant yesterday night, 4 of us
Lovely location
Nice place, the waitress was so lovely, everything was nice
The meat was tasty and juicy. The only issue was for my dessert, I've ordered ice cream with churros
After the first bite i noticed something was wrong, they've used salt instead of sugar.. I'm not upset for the mistake, I'm upset because I told to the manager about my dessert
He took the churros and left, he didn't say sorry he didn't come back and also i paid for my dessert

How much do you want to know about our visit?
The ONLY saving grace was that we got lost on the way here and we're grateful that our table was still available. However, after dining there I understand why!
I will list my disappointment in order of experience.
1. My first issue was no loo roll despite having two ladies toilets. Not good for a lady who may be having there monthly!
2. Service. NOT good. Apparently we were served by the manager. He forgot to give us cutlery with the main course. We asked for Chimichuri sauce and he forgot. We asked why the banana split wasn't on the menu as was on the website. He said its too difficult to make during service... er surely you split a banana and add icecream don't you?
3. We visited the restaurant as we had seen it on TV and it had great reviews. Frozen chips??? Really? When we asked the manager why, he just shrugged.
4. Chimichurri and Peppercorn Sauce. Neither tasted of anything! I make a mean Chimichurri at home and it's bright green and zingy. This was brown and tasteless. I'd like to say the Peppercorn Sauce was maybe like gravy as no peppercorns were harmed in the making of this sauce! However, give me Aldi gravy granuals anytime instead of this tasteless insipid concoction.
5. £59 steak. Admittedly it was tender. However, what the menu doesn't tell you is that you get 600 grams of tiny pieces. As if snipped off larger pieces. Reading the menu I presumed maybe a couple of large prime steaks. Also came with melted Provolone cheese, however it was sprinkled with almonds. I have a nut allergy!!!!! Hence, I couldn't eat it!
At no point were we asked about allergies and nuts are NOT mentioned on the menu!
All in all it was a diabolical experience. Absolutely gutted as the cost was £140!
No need to say we shall not be returning to this lower than average establishment!

It’s our 4th time at the restaurant and the price has gone significantly higher than what it used to be and the quality is not as good.
We ordered a “corn soup” which wasn’t good, empanadas which were good and then parrillada the meat was good (difficult to mess this one up) but the black pudding wasn’t good at all, it was over cooked didn’t taste fresh. We didn’t eat it. What made us pretty upset was the bill, they charged us sauces that we were told were free of charge (each sauce was a pretty reduced amount. We also asked for bred , we actually got 5 pieces of focaccia cubes (not bread). Apparently it’s mentioned on the menu but when we spoke to the waitress she said it was for free. The sauce chimichurri wasn’t very god and out of taste which is why we got the chilli sauce, it was only hot and not tasty. We were recommending the restaurant to a lot of friends and unfortunately we won’t anymore.
It’s very pricey for the quality. But to end on a positive note, the waiter we had was lovely, the vibe of the restaurant was good.

Visited last night as a group of 5. Restaurant was fairly quiet so was expecting good service. Our waiter needed reminded twice on everything we ordered, water, sauces, wine etc. She forgot to order my steak with the kitchen so everyone else was served 5 mins before me. Steak was good but not amazing. Skinny fries are rubbish. I’ve been here before a few times but it’s been a few years. It needs a good tidy up and some capital reinvested and get back to the good old days again. They discounted the steak that was late but still charged £46 for the service. Won’t be back until I see a significant change/refurb.

I never though that I would write such a review, but sadly, I have to agree with a couple of the previous reviewers that were regulars to that restaurant before and found the recent experience under new management underwhelming. We were the regulars and loved to have a ribeye steak with chimichurri sauce.
I am not even going to complain about the fact that this was not a proper chimichurri anymore (it is supposed to be dry spices, not fresh tomatoes in oil), and they charged for it separately.
My biggest issue was that we were served veal ribeye and when I enquired about it, I was repeatedly told that it was a standard beef ribeye. I am sorry, but I know my beef. I felt like I was taken for a fool. No seasoning, no taste. So disappointing. I did not want to make a scene with our friends, so just smiled and made no further complaints. Life is too short and I prefer just quietly not to come back.
Covering tables with white cloth does not make a good restaurant, and unfortunately this one has lost its soul.

I can’t fault the service. We went on a Wednesday night taking advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Despite being busy, the service staff were attentive and friendly. However, the food was a bit of a let down, which is a real shame as we’ve had this place recommended to us for years. The sardines starter was a single, chewy, cold fillet. The steaks were fine, but just ‘fine’, and the sides (sweet potatoes and creamed spinach) were a bit bland. For the price (even with the discount) I expect to be waxing lyrical about my steak but that wasn’t to be. It certainly wasn’t bad, but I don’t know what all the fuss is about - hopefully just an off night!

I went here as one of my first ports of call since restaurants were allowed to reopen and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic steak, as always, but there were some varied starters and all the ones we chose were delicious - even the sweetbreads which would not normally be tried by the family. Service and staff were excellent, as was the wine of the month. Well worth the tip.

We have been coming here for over 12 years and this visit felt like a lot of cutting corners and changes in quality and service. From the bernaise being a weird ice cold mustard sauce to steaks being over cooked. It’s just a shame as I can see they have changed the menu and added in Italian dishes. The food has lost its mojo and me and my wife were just sad when we left as we have lost our local steakhouse.

I came here with my husband for our anniversary. We had a really great meal. The steak was perfect and good value. We shared a portion of chips which were also perfectly cooked. I had the cheesecake for dessert and was able to take some of this home as I just couldn’t finish it. It was delicious. The staff were very attentive and really accommodating of my husband’s nut allergy. Lovely atmosphere and would recommend.

We had recently been recommended by a friend about their lunch deal of £10 for steak, chips and a glass of wine. However very disappointed as we were shafted and not given the offer for no reason.
We turned up at Friday lunchtime and like their website says we asked if lunch deal included wine to two members of staff who both confirmed it did. We ordered our food which was lovely.
When the bill arrived we had been charged £11.40 per wine glass and highlighted this to the waitress (who earlier said deal was running) who said “we haven’t been doing that since 2018”. We showed her that it was on their websites menu but she wouldn’t budget. We know this isn’t true as our friend who recommended it had got the deal a few weeks prior. Furthermore, false advertising on website and two staff members saying yes when we arrived is just terrible.
In the end we had to pay £20 more than what we expected and ruined the visit despite the great food. I would like some compensation and I will edit my review as the food was actually great just terribly shafted.

Came here for the first time this evening with my parents and we had an amazing experience. The staff are so friendly and service is outstanding. The food is exceptional, we had 3 fillet steaks and they were really tasty. We had a lovely evening and the waiter even gave us 3 prosecco'os as he knew we were celebrating. We had a lovely evening. We loved our meal last night. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. We had empanadas which were absolutely delicious, followed by steak, chips and grilled vegetables, also top quality and delicious! If you are a cheesecake lover, we suggest the old traditional dulce de leche. We definitely recommend this place and we will be back with friends.

This place has a lot going for it; the steaks (whilst expensive) are the best I've eaten in London, and the 2-for-1 cocktails every day are an excuse to go by themselves (in fact, my girlfriend and I often pop in just for happy hour), but the best thing about Santa Maria del Sur is the staff. The waiters are all friendly, knowledgable, charming, funny and quite simply can't do enough for you. Juan in particular always makes us feel so at home we often lose track of time completely as we are so relaxed and quite simply just enjoying ourselves. Would definitely recommend.
