Bog standard, seems to be hit locally, not sure why. It is ok, nothing to write home about but was disappointed to see charges for poppadum sauces per person which thought was a bit tight considering. Went to restaurant and felt bit shoved in the...More

Thank you very much for your review. Seats are offered to customer's on a first come first served basis or on request if available. Sorry that you felt 'a bit shoved in the corner and treated different to regulars '. We treat all our customers...More

There was an attempt to update the decor but only one decade, from 1960'S to 1970'S. The garish floor smelt faintly of sick. The starters were bearable and mains were disappointing. This is an Indian restaurant for those who don't really know or care for...More

Wow! Terrible behaviour and then a misleading review. You are a perfect example of spoilt at birth that needed to have some tough love but I suspect you'll learn the difficult way.

Food pretty average - this restaurant takes full advantage of its 'heart of Leytonstone' place in the world. Melted cheddar on top of the paneer dish, was very weird indeed. Bathrooms very very gross, and the hot towels smelled mildew-y and made us need to...More

The Star of India is one of those anomalies in that the restaurant decor is clean and tidy and the food is very good but.........we went for the £11.99 buffet, with a good selection of old favourites, so your bound to find what you want,...More

Lamb madras , mushroom fried rice, cold lager all good in popular place. I thought madras was little mild but nevertheless tasty. Recommended consistent good standard.

Popped in looking for a healthy lunch and was very pleased with a lovely chicken tikka and salad. Definitely recommend The Star of India for a healthy value for money lunch.

I have coming here for 18 years and am now spoilt for any other Indian restaurants. Shah is a lovely welcoming host and the waiters are friendly too. The food is wonderful - they do lots of interesting dishes beyond your usual bhunas and tikka...More

The Star of India is the best. There are loads of options for me as a vegan, there is also a weekday buffet, all you can eat for £11.50, under 12s eat free (but unfortunately, I am 22.) Really nice friendly staff and delicious food....More
