I never had a bad meal at the Cafe Anglais and they did some things brilliantly. Parmesan custard with anchovy toast, wonderful chips, delicious spit roasted meats and game and a few more exotic dishes - thai curry or sashimi would be beautifully executed. The...More

Went on 17 January 2015. The place is permanently closed since December 2014. All you will find is a sign in the window that the restaurant ceased trading.

Highly rate the smart and stylish, classic and yet restrained decor of this restaurant. Whiteleys is going downhill but this small portion certainly isn't. The staff are well-trained. The food is varied and there is a range of dishes from French-based to English to please....More

I was part of a large party: we met at Le Café Anglais to catch up after many years. As such, most of the evening was taken up with talking. The food was important, of course, but as an adjunct to the talking, not the...More

Walking into the restaurant is like walking into the bar on the Queen Mary, based in Los Angeles now. Wonderful Art Deco look with lots of booths, beautifully presented and the fish and game that we had were fantastic plus fantastic service. Truly good and...More

Nice venue and decor (it's a big place). Had the £30 set two course dinner. The starter of salt cod was great with a great hint of chilli. The main course of pheasant was 'slightly' over cooked and dry and the whole dish seemed 'slightly'...More

We go once a year as a special treat, the kipper pate with soft boiled egg was magic, as was my 55 day aged white pork, also very special were the dauphinoise potatoes - I usually find these too rich but the gentle richness of...More

Le Cafe Anglais at one time was regarded as quite a good restaurant . The sense of arrival for the uninitiated is that it is located off a food court in a shopping mall that time has passed by. On a Friday evening in October...More

Le Café Anglais is conveniently situated in Bayswater, West London. It first opened its doors in November 2007 to critical acclaim. Customers were bowled over by the spaciousness of the interior, the stunning views across central London and the comprehensive menu. Rowley Leigh, founder and Chef de Cuisine at Le Café Anglais, was inspired by a visit to a restaurant in St-Jean-de-la-Rivière. The place was filled with convivial groups and at one end the chef was operating a giant spit. Le Café Anglais are firm believers in spit roasting as the best way to roast meat and they provide similar theatre here. The style of the restaurant offers affordable Art Deco glamour. Magnificent floor-to-ceiling mullioned windows; butter-soft eau de nil leather banquettes; bird's eye maple veneer and smoky mirrors all add to the effect. The main restaurant seats 180 people. The private dining room has space for 26 or 50 standing and is ideal for special occasions, business meetings or smaller events.
