We were shopping in the wonderful Fortnum & Mason and came across the Parlour which was essentially a Ice Cream parlour and a tea shop in one.Its all very nicely done and the tea and ice cream were exceptionally tasty. £4.00 per scoop and me and my son has 2 each and 2 pots of tea all for a total... We had about a 30 minute waitr to be seated BUT this was the second Sunday prior to Christmas! Everything we had tasted gorgeous. The Gin and Tonic Sorbet was to die for. Of course it's not a cheap establishment we expected that £10 a portion, but on top there's a whopping 20 percent service charge added automatically. (optional but... More

This seemed a great place to visit for half term treat. On the board outside the entrance it states a children's menu/options available. When we asked for this, the waiter looked blank! We asked again and we're not offered a menu, but we're simply told we could get a cheese toastie with tomato or ham!!!!! This is not a children's... More

Peaceful and quiet when we visited on a Monday morning just for coffees which were delicious and served with a tiny ice-cream. Delightful surroundings and no complaints about the service. Expensive but worth it for a treat.

A 'London institution' that we went to as a treat. It was Very nice, but not really anything to write home about and very expensive for what was on offer. Don't think we would go again unless we win the lottery!

Used to love taking the children and adult friends and family for ice cream. Well where has all the "sundaes" gone. The Fountain gone the re-launched Parlour had done it justice with a great range of sundaes. Limited boring flavours and sundae choices, far better Ice cream Parlours around. Really lacks imagination and now very overpriced.

The waiting time here is ridiculous and really all you are getting is expensive tea and ice cream. The food isn't amazing and isn't worth the very pricey tag. You are better off going somewhere else. The staff aren't helpful and were rather rude to the people waiting in line and asking questions.

We went as a family of four for a mid afternoon treat. You have the opportunity to either create your own sundae or pick one from a standard list. We did both and on balance I think that the standard list is the best. Not a cheap experience, though if you're visiting London and like ice cream and also want... More

I realize that this is a "London Institution" but I was in shock at what I actually received for the price. One day, I looked all over London for a cup of coffee and scone and didn't have any luck finding one. I did a "google search" and Fortnum and Masons was listed as one of the top 15 places... More

This creamy pinky tea salon offers ice creams, classic cakes and tea , or hot chocolate to summarize, but it s much more than that. You might be seated next to the most elegant old granny sipping her tea ,and nibbling on her carrot cake, or victoria finger m which is a creamy sponge cake with layers of raspberries. The... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
