Great presentation of ice cream but parlour atmosphere does not meet with the hype that The Parlour puts out. More like an American diner within the majesty of beautiful Fortnum & Mason.

I had made a reservation online for 10:00am several weeks in advance. As the store opens at 10 we were able to choose which table we wanted. The surroundings are very nice, clean and airy. The staff were very child friendly, we were provided with colouring sheets and pencils for our two children. I took our children over to the... More

We had booked online, bookings are given priority for the next table rather than 'reserved' tables which is sensible, but does mean a short wait. Husband had Gin and Tonic sorbet, really nice and best choice on a hot day. The rest of us had 'make your own'. We didn't all get what we paid/asked for exactly but it was... More

Nothing to recommend about this worn out disgrace to F&M's long standing excellence, serving commodity fast food at rip-off prices. Waitress brought my chicken escalope first time around without the advertised side-salad because "the chef has been more generous with your chicken portion". It arrived eventually as a few rocket leaves. Undrinkably sour espresso to boot.

The service here is slow and inattentive, meaning when your drink eventually does arrive it's lukewarm. The cake was okay, the scones were tiny and quite hard, which is not how they're intended to be I'm sure. For the money and reputation of the establishment, I'd expected much better. There are way better alternatives nearby.

This was a special treat for my nephew. We booked on line so were first ones in there. They had a great offer to create a sundae, you choose the ice cream, flavour and amount, sauce, toppings. It's priced individually but the kids love it, my nephew went straight for all chocolate! We had coffee and shared chocolate cake. The... More

£26 for a disgusting piece of flourless chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream, minute apple juice and a coffee - unbelievable. Was exhausted after a very hot day in London so decided to go in thinking this might be Harrods quality - oh boy was I wrong. To finish off, the service was appalling. Never again - it... More

Our second visit to the Parlour, and once again, it did not disappoint. The menu featured lots of lovely light options for an afternoon snack; in particular, the Welsh rarebit was delicious. With its pastel decor and a fun create-your-own ice cream menu, this is heaven for children. The gin and tonic sorbet is a treat for adults.

This is a great parlour if you enjoy ice creams with all sorts of toppings and the famous knicker bocker glory from time to time. For years it was a great place to have afternoon tea with lovely matching china and ornate silver teapots which were also sold in the store. Although the cakes were rather limited the scones were... Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
