Beautiful atmosphere, quick service, but seemed rushed to get out. It was difficult to get wait staff attention to order more things after the initial order. The food was so-so for the high price & would have preferred spending less money elsewhere.

We had an excellent meal after a show. The Yeong Fried Rice was tasty and fresh, one person had the duck, another had sweet and sour chicken and we all had some soup. It was a lighter meal for us since we had tea before the show, but I would recommend doing one of the set menus to get a taste of what the restaurant has to offer.

This justifies it's reputation as one of the top Chinese restaurants.
Whilst there are a few gaps in the menu, what is left is more than adequate.
I had Vietnamese spring rolls,Sui mai, tastefully presented scallop dumpling and salted fish and chicken rice. They came to a reasonable£23.32,including 10%service change.
Service was faultless.

We booked this restaurant a few weeks in advance (by phone) for a family day out in London, when we arrived they couldn’t find our booking. Luckily we were early and they asked us to return in 5 mins whilst they sorted out a table for four. Wish we had been turned away, then we could have found somewhere better! Very greasy starters and average food overall, disappointing for Chinatown, I’m sure you could find better.

Booked for a Chinese New Year's Eve dinner weeks in advance with a request for a table for three upstairs. On the evening in question, we were led to perhaps the worst table in the place - squeezed into the center of the ground floor that barely had space for 2 people to eat. We pointed out that this wasn't what we had reserved and simply got a shrug of the shoulders from the waiter and a "take it or leave it" attitude from the manager. We left without eating. Have had a couple of OK meals here in the past, but we won't be returning. There are so many other, better restaurants in the area that appreciate their customers.

We wanted to find a place with both good dim sum and a nice general menu and The Orient was perfect. It is right by the Chinese gate on Wardour Street and is smart inside. Service was helpful, informative and friendly (not something that can be taken for granted in Chinatown) and the mix of dim sum was very good and portions were substantial - although it would have been nice to have a couple more veggie options. We also had a couple of items off the normal menu too, which were good. Lockdown apart, they are offering 30% off for some of the week. We went mid-afternoon and dim sum is served until 4.45pm.

Having done extensive research for a Chinese restaurant in China town for my sons 18th birthday I decided upon Orient. Best decision. It was truly wonderful. We had a lovely table for 6. We decided upon a set menu with a couple of extra dishes (not required but extra). The set menu we had was £24 a head. Main courses were all a good selection. Our waitress suggested changing the prawn dish in the set meal to chilli pepper prawns. They were amazing. The ambiance was lovely too. We will most definitely be back. The only sad thing was how covid is clearly affecting businesses even in the heart of soho. When we left at 9pm the restaurant was almost empty, having been almost full and buzzing at 7pm

We tried Orient based on reading other people's reviews and even though they were not all 5 star we were most impressed. On Saturday Chinatown was very busy and we had to wait 5 minutes for a table.
We were given a window table and were able to watch the world go by outside. We ordered a selection of dimsums and had 7 plates of it including two of the squid rings. All was very hot, tasted fresh and most enjoyable. No complaints. Including two pots of tea the bill was under £40. Even better.

We enjoyed our visit to Orient very much. There was a problem with the 8pm booking time (my mistake) which was sorted immediately without any fuss. Great value banquet choices had our mouths watering and we chose one with delicious crispy duck mid course which was fantastic. The staff were all lovely genuine people which makes me think this is a family owned business? We will surely return here on our next visit to London!! Thanks Orient.

Went here last night after walking passed the other week when we were in London and made a note of name and booked for yesterday
What a find. Staff friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Fresh. Hot and delicious
Set menus are great value and we were allowed to swap one we weren’t keen on
Will be back many times now we have found it

Everything about this restaurant was excellent. The service was friendly and although the restaurant was completely full we didn’t feel rushed . The food was incredible so tasty and also so hot. We had the set menu C and there was an amazing selection and so much food. We nearly ordered an extra noodle dish, so pleased we didn’t we would never have been able to finish it. Can’t wait to return

On the whole we had a nice family meal here, the staff were friendly and the prices are fairly expensive, but I’ve seen worse for this part of London.
The food is fairly good, and you can tell it’s been prepared from scratch rather than generic Chinese takeaway food. The only criticism I could have was they fall into the trap of using cheap meat, we got a honey chicken which came in batter, however when you cut into the chicken you could tell it was of very poor standard and pumped with water to go further. When you are paying top prices, surely it’s not too much to ask to use decent ingredients?

Would advise people who are of a melanated persuasion not to attend this restaurant. The service we received this evening was terrible and being the ONLY people of colour there we waited 30 mins to be served.. 1 of our party's food never turned up at all and when we asked for more cutlery... we saw a staff member rubbing his hands all over them.
We will NEVER eat here again... with service this poor it overlooks how amazing the food was.
Fr the lady who they slammed the door or and wished me not to come back.
Thank you

We had searched around for a seafood menu with lobster and all the others seemed to have soup as a starter which we didn't want. Slightly worried to start with as they had run out of lobster (which I specifically wanted) and asked if we would have crab as out middle course which we didn't. This was solved by a quick trip to the supermarket and soon the waitress came back brandishing a lobster. We had set menu D which had the most amazing selection of starters and the scallops were probably the best I have ever had, and believe me I have had a lot.
It was a Sunday evening after attending a matinee and we hadn't booked and the place was full but we didn't have to wait too long before they found us a table, all staff were friendly and the service was excellent. There was a real mixture of couples, families and groups it was a good atmosphere and tables weren't too close together. We probably ate more than we should, but it was too good to leave. I would definitely book next time and would have the a la carte as there were so many dishes on there that I would like to try.

Chose this resturant based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. Inside it is very clean and feels upmarket with good decor and ambience. Staff were really efficient, seated us quickly and took our drink order quickly.
Drinks arrived and food ordered.
We had the mixed hors d’oeuvres, Barbecue platter, Sweet & sour chicken Cantonese style and Fried noodle with beansprout.
Starter turned up quickly and once finished the main dishes were not far behind. All food looked really good and tasted even better. Overall a really good meal in really nice surroundings.
There was a table next to us with about 12 people at it and it was evident they were also really enjoying the food.
So whether going as a couple or a group it seems like this is a great choice for chinese food.
I have eaten at a few other chinese restaurants in London and while this one was a little dearer than some of the others it was worth paying extra and the quality of the food deserves a slightly higher price.
