Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We occasionally go to Addis and have always loved its simple understated atmosphere and great tasting food at reasonable prices. Personally I prefer the lentils, beans and vegetable stews to the meat dishes. The injeeras are lovely and fluffy and make the perfect combination with the spices. And a lovely tea rounds it all off. A real treat!

This must have been the third time I've been here, either for a meal or takeaway. Despite being near Kings Cross, it's inexpensive for a veggie, and plenty of character. The food's not bad, the service a bit mixed. This time it was friendly and we didn't have to wait too long. On previous visits it's been quieter but slower.
This is the first Ethiopian restaurant I've been to where there were weren't many Ethiopians or Eritreans eating there. Maybe that explains why it's a bit hit or miss.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. It was certainly an interesting experience as none of us had ever had Ethiopian food before.
First impressions were that the restaurant itself could use a bit of love, it was a bit old fashioned and left behind, not the most appealing but then we weren’t there to enjoy the decor.
After being seated for a few minutes beer arrived. We didn’t order it, it just kind of appeared but it was certainly a welcome sight and a little later someone came to take our food order.
When the food arrived some of the meals came on their own plates with knives and forks, and some where served on top of Injera- a slightly vinegary and spongy bread/pancake which proved to be a bit of an acquired taste.
We were served 2 large plates of injera and had multiple dishes we had ordered placed on top of them for sharing. Thankfully the 2 vegetarians sat opposite one another so we had an entire Injera to ourselves with a selection of veggie dishes on top. The other end of the table got a mixture of meat and veggie dishes, which is fine, but given no one asked who was vegetarian within the group has we sat the other end we would have gone hungry.
The veggie dishes were all tasty, well spiced and cooked. The Injera was not personally to our tastes but it was an interesting experience to eat in this way.
When it came to paying it felt like their system was very archaic. The receipt was all handwritten so it was difficult to work out what we all owed. The waiter also asked “how much service to add?” at this point, which was a little bit rich considering that was the first word he had uttered to us all evening; after seating us, bringing us drinks and taking our order in complete silence.
Overall this was an interesting meal out. I’m happy that I’ve tried Ethiopian food even if it wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea, but equally if I try it again it will most assuredly be somewhere else.

The service was a bit slow to begin with but we didn't have to wait too long for our food once the order was taken.
The food was really tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The card machine wasn't working but at less than £40 for two for starters, two mains and a bottle of wine this was good value.

Seems to have a problem with their card terminal as we were asked for cash at the end of the meal which we scraped together. Might be worth checking when ordering. Close to kings Cross station with prompt service makes it good for a quick meal if catching a train. The overall bill was very low for London and on that basis it just gets 4 stars although we couldn’t agree on the standard of the food. The best dish by far was the pitta and humus as a starter. We shared a mixed dish as the main with lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes placed on a spongy aerated pancake with more to use for picking food up. There was minimal meat and not a lot of variation in taste on the meat dishes. Vegetarian dish was better.

I love injera which is a soft fluffy sour tasting Ethiopian pancake eaten with meat and/or vegetables.
This time I went to Addis which is on Caledonian Road where there are many Ethiopian restaurants but Addis is nearer Kings Cross Station hence the reason I dined there.
I was tempted to leave and go to another Ethiopian restaurant because service was so slow.
I had the Dulet which was finely chopped lamb tripe, liver and red lamb meat cooked with Ethiopian spices.
The injera was served first and it was so soft and fluffy like an English pancake but very sour tasting like there was so much fresh lemon juice in it.
Next came the dulet which I thought was saucy but it was dry.
Overall, I found the dulet too chewy because it was mainly 80% tripe and couldn't find any liver so the other 20% is probably lamb meat.
The injera at this place is definitely the best I've had but probably chose the wrong dish to go with it.
On a side note, the sharing plates are huge!!

We had the traditional salad (so delicious), humos and the special selection main course. We had never tried Ethiopian food and loved the flavours! The waitress was really sweet and friendly. It was a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Because you use the traditional pancake to eat the food, be prepared for a very filling meal!

Came here with a work colleague who hadn't had Ethiopian food before (I had several times). Food was very good quality. All the dishes were spicy to different degrees without being uncomfortable to eat. Really know how to work with meat and the veggie dishes are really good too. Try the Misir Wot. Prices all good value and they do dishes for 2 which are even better value. Don't be put off by the slightly dated surroundings: the food's the thing. My wife is that part of the world and she's picking up regular take outs. Recommended!

Decided to check this place out on a birthday trip with the wife to London. We were not disappointed!
I reserved a table through the website and added a comment that it was my birthday and to surprise me. When we arrived they had decorated a table with a happy birthday banner, reservation sign with my name on it and candles!
From the outset the customer service was exceptional the owner took the time to explain the options available on the menu and recommended an option for us that gave us a nice mix of dishes from the menu and even gave us some complimentary traditional Ethiopian tea.
The food was exceptional and great value for money. Whilst we were there another three sets of customers came in and the owner recognised them and greeted them as if they were family! Clearly repeat customers.
Great experience, service and food. Can’t wait to go back.

I visited Addis with a friend and had a really lovely vegan plate - it was tasty and the injera was good. My friend ordered a lamb dish which was tough and overcooked. She tried my food and liked it a lot more so maybe the vegan food is the way to go! The cabbage and potato dish in particular was great. The staff were really friendly and were good at leaving you alone to enjoy your meal.

We were a vegetarian group. Can't remember what we ordered, but it's the standard dish of various (4-5) vegetarian curries served on top of Etihopean bread (injera). Very tasty. Half our group had not had Ethiopian food before and loved it. Bit of a squeeze in seating, and the whole place is a bit dated, but personally don't care for ay of that and very happy if it helps keep the costs down, which it really did as the price was very reasonable.

The food was fine...the anjeera could have been warmer....we saw someone delivering them, so they are not made on site?
There was only one waitress .so when it got busy, we had to wait a long time to order main meal.
When it came to pay, we were told cash only! And we had to go out looking for an ATM!!
Had they told us in advance, we could have gone elsewhere...or gone out whilst we were waiting.
Unlikely to go back

Came here for a birthday dinner as I had never tried Ethiopian before.
I was very impressed!
Great quality, fairly-priced and unique food with lots of flavour.
Also, good range of drinks.
Nice, relaxed atmosphere, definitely recommend.

I’m vegan and I have been here twice. The food is delicious, and the staff are very accommodating. Not to mention, we only paid £40 for three very hungry people (one meat eater). Service is also really quick!

I've had Ethiopian many times before, but only in the US. I've also made my own kitfo and injera. I was looking forward to trying some Ethiopian in London on my last night before heading home.
Food: 4
I had the kitfo special (with cheese & spinach) and peach tea. The menu said only medium rare and well done, so I asked if they made kitfo rare. The server said they did, but asked me whether I tried raw before? Rare is the only way that I eat kitfo. The dish was tasty enough, but would've been nice if they provided more cheese than spinach. The injera could've used more sourdough flavor. Prices are very reasonable though, compared to the US.
Ambiance: 4
Cosy with wood accents. A nice place to hang out when chilly outside.
Service: 3
I wish they told me earlier that their CC machine wasn't working so I could've gotten cash from the ATM before I ordered. I'd been using my CC practically my entire trip and spent most of my currency. After I paid the bill, they never brought my change until I asked.
