Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a rainy day and we were looking for a place to have some hot breakfast and came across Sofra, we were greeted warmly by Huseyin the owner and chef. Whilst we waited for our order we were given complimentary Turkish breads severed with...clotted cream and honey, which was delicious. We decided when we were back up in town again we would start the day at Sofra, thank you to all the team.More

Very disappointed. Although reasonably priced the food was inedible. The chorizo was 4 slices on a plate (tescos' tasted better), my waghu burger was tough and chips were undercooked. My husbands Dover soul smelt rather strong and the mashed potato and greens were stone cold....To give them their due upon complaint we didn't have to pay for the sole. Service was irratic - neighbouring table got given main whilst still eating their starter and had to chase their first drinks, whilst we waited for our main long after customers who arrived after us had been served. My stomach is now complaining. Worst meal in London in such a pretty area.More

"I recently dined here and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The food lacked the flavors I expected, and the customer service was subpar. The manager's attitude was rather arrogant, and I was surprised when they considered serving us bread and Houmous as the service charge....It's important to have a clear understanding of what service charge entails. Additionally, the prices at the restaurant seemed reasonable, but the unexpected service charge significantly increased the bill, making it less affordable. I recommend caution when considering this establishment unless you're familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine and culture."More

Sofra is a welcoming restaurant with a warm atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient even on a busy Sunday morning. Our breakfast dishes were cooked to perfection, tasty and good value. Sofra is a great place to eat just off Oxford Street with outside...tables and an excellent, sheltered position. We hope to return very soon.More

Great location. We weren’t expecting the best meal ever, but we were still disappointed - probably the worst food of its type that I have had in London. When we ordered we warned the waiter that my son has a walnut allergy. None of the...food we ordered should have come close to a walnut so he assured us it was safe. However somehow walnut found its way onto my sons plate resulting in anaphylaxis - the fist time this has happened in any restaurant we have been to in multiple countries over the last 8 years. His reaction in the restaurant was not too bad but he deteriorated after we left resulting in a trip to a&e. I called the restaurant to advise them of what had happened - the manageress said it was not possible for walnut to be in the food and they take it very seriously. I asked her to email me all the ingredients from the food we ate and she gave me her email address so I could contact her. I emailed twice - no response. I emailed a third time copying in the restaurant email address detailed on google - no response. They clearly don’t care. Tests show my son has no other allergy than walnut - so it was in his food, no question, so the restaurants approach to cross-contamination is poor but unless they take action others with allergies will suffer. These allergies are not a joke - they are potentially fatal! Appalling response to a serious issue.More

Just wanted a quick Friday night supper before heading home but so disappointed. Food was very overpriced and average at best , instantly forgettable in terms of flavour, served warm (so was the white wine). I thought we’d be safe with lamb tagine (house speciality...apparently) but flavourless . Other people complaining but we’d rather just not go backMore

The food was very bland and extremely disappointing quality, no taste. We’ve been before and it was good but we will never ever go back again. The ladies toilet was absolutely appalling, I thought twice about eating there after I’d visited this. Filthy. Warm wine...and sorry we had to pay gif such poor quality. I understand now why a table left after a confrontation about food.More

Off Oxford Street, but the pace slows down, and it gets much quieter as you get closer to the restaurant. We ate here three nights, the first night was very busy, and we sat inside because of the rain. Greeted promptly, and they found a...table for two. We picked a couple of the mezze dishes and a different entree each night. Especially enjoyed the lamb chops two nights. Food came out as we were ready for it, and it was hot and tasty. Tried a couple of different Turkish wines. We never see them in the United States. Especially enjoy the halloumi cheese that they introduced us to over 20 years ago. Finished off with ice cream. A Meal that we enjoyed as much as our first time here over 20 years ago.More

Sadly not a great experience. Looks like shrink-flation has seriously affected here. When I asked where the broccoli was which is listed along side rice as a grilled meat accompaniment, was told it was a ‘garnish’. £7.95 for 3 pieces of calamari for a starter....Shish chicken tasted good. But overall very disappointing and won’t be going back. We eat out multiple times a week so like to spend our money well.More

We have been going to this restaurant for many years for a casual lunch when in London's West End, so we decided to visit again after Covid. Oh, what a dreadful experience, the service was appalling, we waited over 45 minutes to place an order,...having asked many times for the menu's etc. and then waited another 30 minutes for the wine and nibbles. When the food did arrive it was served as starters and main course all at the same time, so the main course went back........ waited again...... The quality of the food and the portions were minimal, not as previously had. When the bill eventually arrived we did expect some recompense, but the answer "sorry mate"...... So.. NEVER again, to what was a great lunchtime venue.More

In a bit of a hurry, kids starting to get hungry so we had to find a place quickly. I had my suspicions beforehand, and unfortunately my intuition served me more than right. It’s a tourist trap deluxe. Sky high prices to start with. Once...seated we were served some bread with hummus which was nice. Then we waited for ages after taking the order. I had the sirloin cooked medium rare. After 45 minutes I was served a dry, well done steak in colour gray, accompanied by a small portion of chips and a tiny blob of some sauce which lasted the first quarter of the steak. Kids had hamburgers, “waygu“ meat according to menu. Dry, and bland taste. Coleslaw for the strips were a small drop on the side. Waiter looked super tired, trousers hanging halfway down, shirt untucked and a morning hair due. Just depressing overall. Zero compensation of course when I complained about the meat. Just don’t give them your money. Although they will always survive on the stream of tourists.More

Lovely setting for a restaurant, sadly the food and service was such a let down. We had booked an outside table three weeks in advance of our visit and when we arrived they didn’t have a table inside or outside ready for us. We ended...up sitting inside and the service was poor. No attention to detail, no interest in us as customers. The food was second rate at best. Meats were dry, salad was limp and everything was tasteless. We paid the bill and left… we won’t be going back and sadly can’t recommend as a place to eat.More
