Third visit here, a bit of a let down. I’ve had 2 amazing meals here with friends, booked for Saturday 1st same day via online, and was surprised to get a table as normally it’s a month in advance to get a table, same day...I thought, wow that’s lucky. We chose the menu with cold and warm starters, and a main dish each, I had the Shish iskender (extra £3.90) and my partner had the seafood Tava. Meze items were good, the bread did not appear fresh/baked (Haggle in Norwich has amazing bread) but the dips were tasty, the felafel was superb. Felt rushed, but it was a Saturday, main course was a let down though. The Iskender had very little meat, and was basically a plate of chopped up soggy pitta bread with herbed tomatoes (menu said croutons). The yogurt dressing tasted like mayonnaise, I make my own yogurt (incredibly easy) so was not impressed. When I spoke with the waiter, I said “it seems to be mainly bread, a lot of it” the response shocked me.. “well you don’t have to eat all of it”! My partners fish Tava consisted of octopus, prawns and mussels, there didn’t actually appear to be much fish! We ordered a bottle of house red, the final bill was £83 for two, be warned they put the service charge on the bill! No option for discretionary! I wonder if the drop in quality and poor response to a valid concern over the food is why I was able to get a late notice table, the restaurant was very good, I would say it’s mediocre at best now, a bit of a shame The photo is of my Iskender, and was what was taken back, I couldn’t eat it. In summary, Norwich has a good number of Turkish restaurants, Haggle at the top, i believe that unless I am part of a group who chose the restaurant I would not visit again, sorry guys, they have let themselves downMore

Book a table RIGHT NOW!! Yummmm!! From opening the teal doors, to rejigging the window table to fit a high chair, to wittingly taking and bringing our order to giving us a proper hug goodbye, James made our first dining experience at Gem super memorable!...(Nice to see other reviews mentioning this gentle giant!) The beans in tomato dill sauce, falafel, shakshouka and grilled salmon were absolutely delicious! The falafel are the ones with broad beans and chickpeas (kurdish version) and the hummus was with raw garlic. Buttery mashed potatoes under the salmon for real indulgence. Our reservation was for 6pm and the by the time we were ready to order, the whole lounge area was packed with very happy customers. Great vibe, awesome staff and mouth watering flavours cooked with passion. I indulged in the leftover giant beans at 6am the next morning, that should tell you everything! Definitely worth trekking all the way from West Mids to the biggest gem in Norwich! Going back ASAP and bringing the whole clan, just gonna skip the mojito mocktail next time :pMore

So...our 40th wedding anniversary and we celebrated with a party of 15 adults and three toddlers. In summary, this was a fantastic experience. Emre and his team couldn't do any more to make our experience any better. The food was excellent (especially the blissful lamb...cutlets!), plentiful and served at a great pace. The waiting staff were brilliant, making sure that we had a memorable meal. In addition, the bill was very reasonable and it felt that we had superb value for money. I can't speak highly enough of the service we received, it was attentive and caring - you made our anniversary meal an occasion to remember - thank you so much!More

Fabulous turkish style food. We had 8 assorted mezzes between 3 adults and they were all lovely and we were very full! The hummus with grilled figs was my favourite. Certainly the best mezzes I have had in Norwich. Other tables had mains which looked...good. The staff were great. All in all a very good experience.More

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here - always a bit worried about visiting a place when you already have such high expectations after reading such glowing reviews but it certainly lived up to them. We each had the 2 course lunch; we...had baba ganoush and falafel to start, followed by the mixed kofte and the lamb stifado. Generous portions, tasty food and excellent value for money, there wasn’t anything not to like and we look forward to visiting often!More

We had the lunch offer, 2 courses for £12.90. The starters, Giant beans and babaganoush were a good portion size and came accompanied by pitta bread. Both were very tasty. The main courses, Imam (which can be vegan or vegetarian) and lamb stifado came with...a good portion of rice/couscous and salad and were also tasty and a good portion size. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the restaurant was good. It was quite busy for a week day. As a vegetarian I know that there was also a moussaka and I'm sure that they would be able to make up a selection of starters as many of them were vegetarian. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in Norwich. It is near the station.More

We had the most fabulous meal at Gem!! We chose a wonderful variety of food between the five of us and each and every dish was incredible! I want to say some highlights (babaganoush…. Sish…Calamari….even mashed potato!) but I wouldn’t want to leave out everything...else as it was so good 😆♥️ the service is particular was perfection. Super friendly and attentive without feeling rushed. The restaurant and decor itself was beautiful and for more than a moment we felt as though we were on holiday in Turkey ♥️ we’re excited to return as soon as we can!!More

Hello Bronnie R The online menu mentions vegetarian and vegan options but doesn’t mention gluten free. I also suggest phoning. Speak to the owner. A really nice man called Engin. He’ll be able to assist you.
