Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is now my favourite place to stay and especially to eat in the whole of England. Started with the chicken, followed by the pork belly, and finished with the excellent cheese board, featuring Baron Bigod. But TBH, I will be coming back to taste...the rest of the menu, because it's fabulous. Every single mouthful I've had this evening has been exquisite - there is clearly excellence in this kitchen. A big thank you to the staff, but to whoever is working that magic in the kitchen - you're a genius, and I cannot wait to come here again. BTW, always a sign of a good place to stay is if they have Baron Bigod on the menu. Those are the rare places that understand how to treat a visitor. Honingham Buck deliver that by the bucketload. Thank youMore

Local to the area, had heard good things but never tried it. So glad we finally got round to it. This was one of the best pub grub dinners we've ever had. I had the Cromer crab salad with Jersey Royals and it was just...fantastic, none of that 'back to the 70's' vibe that usually goes with that dish! Friendly, welcoming service. The pub was oldy worldy. Good parking but even on a Wednesday night was full. But being in a country setting, there is on road parking. Has pub garden too (now we just need the weather to allow us to sit outside!!!). Great value for money too.More

We only stayed one night and did not dine. Staff were slightly unwelcoming and barely spoke to us on our arrival and even when we ordered one drink at the bar, not even a conversation was had. Rooms were ok for a nights stay with...all the amenities one could wish for but the cleanliness was poor. Thick dust on all of the sides and loads of hair on the floor in the bathroom and in the corners next to the toilet! Breakfast was lovely with fresh produce on offer, bur again the service was poor. Our server barely said one word to us, and even cleared my wife’s plate whilst she was still eating ! Such a shame, as the reviews were good prior to us booking.More

My wife and I only stayed one night though were impressed with the quality of both the accommodation and food on offer. We were met by a very helpful, friendly lady who explained the layout before showing us to our room. It was lovely with...all the amenities required and patio doors which led to the garden. We had booked a table in the restaurant and found the food and service excellent. We would highly recommend and will be booking again the next time we are in the area. Regards, PaulMore

Three night stay - two couples - and family get-together for lunch. Hotel very nice - staff lovely - restaurant very pleasant with good food (although portions were a little bit over-sized for me). Beer garden was nice to sit out in on loveliest days...of the year (so far). Bedroom spacious - - but what the heck was that green light in the ceiling which shone brightly all night. En suite wet room was the weakest point - great water pressure and heat - but floor slippy when wet and no grab rails, more signs of black mould on sealant / grout than I would expect, bathroom mirror steams up as you have to close en-suite door when showering and even when clear, its not much good for wife applying make-up as light shines from behind her so her face in shadow. Breakfast was served by Paula - we were considering park & ride into Norwich and she very helpfully advised that we use the A47 Thickthorn Services park&ride for access to city centre - a great service that cost we two seniors a grand total of £3 for all day parking and travel in and out of centre.More

First off the plates of food are huge, our table and another table all had ginormous portions. However, we chose the roast to eat on Sunday evening. But it was disappointing and obviously had been cooked at lunchtime and was left over. The meat was...very hard it was difficult to cut and the Yorkshire pudding was pure crisp. Having read reviews it was a letdown. Would not visit again.More

Truly excellent food. Sat in the bar near fire. Fish fingers were lovely as was my wife's aubergine dish. The service was very professional and friendly. Excellent real Lacon ales, although would have liked a stronger draught beer. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Had a two night stay here at the weekend. What a superb place, the staff were excellent, as was the food in the restaurant, truly outstanding. One minor gripe and it’s a suggestion rather than a complaint………The dusting could have been more thorough, in particular...around the air con unit it the bedroom. Still highly recommend though.More

Only live a few miles away in Norwich, but booked an overnight stay as attending a party in the village hall. The rooms are in a separate and reasonably new building next to the pub. Our room was fitted with high quality furniture and bedding....Checked in and shown to the room by a very friendly and helpful young man behind the bar. Had a very good freshly cooked breakfast with pots of tea and toast made with nice bread. They only have about eight rooms, so it's all freshly prepared, no buffet and having to make your own toast and get tea and coffee from a machine etc. Be careful when booking, looking at the photos for the type of room I selected it seemed like there would be a shower, but there was actually a bath with a overhead shower. As my partner has hip problems he did not use the facilities as really needed a walk in shower. You need a car if staying here, apart from the pub there is nothing else in the village.More

Visited this lovely quaint pub for lunch and went for the basic rolls but same with chips which were lovely and a nice side salad. Only issue is the rolls were very hard which we both did not eat. My partner had the bacon and...chicken and I had the steak and binham blue. We asked if we could have them on wholemeal and thought that meant a sandwich not rolls our error but have to say the food was great except the hard rolls. Went to pay and the staff knocked our drinks off the bill which they did not have to do. Would thoroughly recommend visiting here again and we will do. Def give the service and food 10/10 as they were all exceptional in all ways.More

The food at the Honingham Buck is some of the best gastropub food there is in the area, by a country mile, but….’pub’ creeps into the description and therein lies the problem. At the bar when we went there for a meal the noise from...a group of people (who looked like regulars) drowned out the ambience of the murmur of eaters. In particular one quite tall guy, in shorts at the bar (I mean come on, you let men in with shorts to where people are eating?!) bellowed rather than spoke, and had a laugh like a cockerel being castrated. We had to move. It’s a shame because that group and in particular that person is destroying the atmosphere for the majority of customers who eat in the bar area. I shall not be going back.More

Been here many times before and always received a warm welcome however on this occasion we were served by a female that barely spoke to us. She appeared extremely frosty and stand offish. Food was great but due to the very poor and unwelcoming atmosphere...I shall not be returning or recommending.More

We went with high expectations as have had excellent meals in the past, only to be disappointed this time. We had Chicken with chorizo the chicken was very nice but the Potatoes and the chorizo were overcooked to the point of being nearly burnt. The...service was very pleasant however. Would I go back? No not in a hurry could do much betterMore

Beautiful setting and polite staff. Food was ok but average. Drinks expensive as a white wine spritzer was £1 more than our usual pub for a 125ml glass of wine and on top of that another £1 added for a dash of soda! Added to...which the spritzer seemed so weak I couldn't really taste any wine.More
