This pub does not do take away but when I asked they went to a lot of trouble to do some. The food was delicious. The location by the river is delightful. The cider was great. Prices reasonable. Give it a go.

A lovely spot sitting out on a veranda overlooking the river. Veranda overlooking the river had a bench along the length of the pub but felt a little cramped due to tables squeezed in for eaters. Charming old building popular with locals. Friendly bar staff...More

Thank you for your review. We agree with the cramped jetty. Unfortunately we are unable to widen it as this is the navigable side of the river and the broads authority won't allow us to. We also have a seating area at the back of...More

7 of us dropped by for a couple. Fast friendly service and good prices. Decent Guinness is always a must and it was top notch. We'll be back.

No it's a small walk away. The pub itself is right on a bridge. Enjoy!

Description
Whether you're looking for somewhere to eat a nice pub lunch, or a warm and welcoming environment to enjoy the range of cask ales, farm cider, draught lagers, continental bottled beers, wines or champagnes, the Ribs of Beef is one of the best public houses, bars and inns in Norwich.
Roger and Anthea Cawdron have owned this historic pub on the banks of the River Wensum for over 30 years, and their warm and welcoming approach has built up a strong following and a great reputation in Norwich.
On a sunny summer's day, there is no better place to sit in Norwich, than on the riverside terrace - one of Norwich's "hidden gems". Catching the afternoon sun, this is the ideal place to enjoy a cooling drink or read the Sunday papers.
In the winter, the main bar is warm and welcoming and is even open on Christmas Day so that you can enjoy the day in good cheer.
The pub caters for all ages - from the youngest, to customers who have been regulars for 40 years.
As well as serving delicious pub food - perfect for brunch, a pub lunch for work or pleasure, or a relaxing Sunday lunch by the river - the Ribs have a great range of cask ales, and often feature guest ales. The staff will be happy to let you have a "taster", to help you select the perfect ale for you or try something new.
All their pub food is prepared on the premises, meaning that it really is among the best pub food restaurants around - and so conveniently placed for Tombland and the centre of Norwich, it's a great place to stop by for brunch, lunch or drinks overlooking the river.
Breakfast baps are served from 11am and the Lunchtime menu is available 12noon to 2.30Pm weekdays and 11am to 5pm at weekends.
With more of a 'local pub' feel than many of the bars or pubs in Norwich, you'll be able to see at once how much care and warmth the Cawdrons have put into the Ribs -why it is known as "the city's favourite local".
What you might not expect in one of Norwich's pubs, is a meeting room set up for business meetings (with wifi and TV screen for presentations) The room is also perfect for private functions, dinner parties, or for clubs and groups. Use of this meeting room is free of charge.
