Not been here before seemed a bit quirky, had a secret garden! Hmm wasn't sure we'd find it, yeah is was out the café around the side to the rear, very quaint walled garden, peaceful. You order in the café (which also has seating) then wait for the food and drinks to be made, or you can take a seat in the secret garden then pop down later to collect. Food is packaged in compostable products, knife fork spoons were made of wood all very eco friendly.

We visited the Folly Coffee House garden at the rear of the building in Settle today. A hidden gem! Customer service was friendly and welcoming. We had freshly made sandwiches with tasty bread and fillings and we recommend the lovely scones with jam and cream. There were lots of other tempting dishes on the menu as well.
We didn’t get time to visit the museum but we will definitely make time on our next visit.
Such an unusual building and a coffee house that is different in a good way!

Love this cosy, welcoming cafe. Has a really local and friendly feel. Always happy to hear a cafe welcomes dogs. The homemade cakes are fresh and delicious. I dream of the sticky chocolate orange cake I had on my first visit constantly! It's the little touches with this place, from the warm fires to the mini biscuits on the side of a tasty coffee. Fab menu and always good service. The location within the museum at the back of Settle high street always makes it feel like a special locals' secret.

Travelling with two dogs is not always easy to find places that can accommodate you. However the Folly Coffee house was fantastic. They didn't mind one of our dogs whining to get attention and even brought them biscuits. Food was lovely and service attentive. Would recommend this coffee house to anyone - you don't have to have a dog even!!

Were visiting Settle to see the Plant Pot Statues and after a walk round the hills and the town we decided to have lunch at 'The Folly.'
What a superb building! A gentleman's residence dating back to the early 1600s it has been thoughtfully converted into a museum and a lovely cafe.
Due to the pandemic they had only just re-opened but they had everything Covid safe with social distanced tables, one way system and hand sanitiser on each table.
Although reduced the menu had some excellent choices but in the end we opted for Carrot and lentil Soup and quiche and salad. Both were excellent as was the tea and hot chocolate served with beautiful homemade shortbread.
The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and made you feel very welcome..
If you're in Settle you MUST try here!.

We visited Folly coffee shop today in Settle but wasn’t impressed by the taste of their coffee
I ordered an Americano and my wife ordered a Latte as well as sandwiches and scones.
I would not recommend the coffees there -my americano was weak and
my wife couldn’t taste the coffee in her latte.
We sent both back.I told them I’m used to good strong coffee in the cafes I visited, the reply back to me was sharp and abrupt and informed to order a second shot.We had replacement coffees but they were no better and I was told if I wanted stronger coffee then I needed to pay for an extra shot.
Why should I be told to pay for 2nd shot when I was already paying above and beyond the local price not to mention it’s the price I would pay in any large city and even then it would taste perfect - all I wanted was a coffee that tasted of coffee and wasn’t just brown water.
On my conclusion of coffee tasting I suspect it’s inferior brand or pre measured and no doubt a tightness that would leave Scrooge gasping .
Avoid certainly on the coffee.

We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience with us and we are always happy to receive feedback from our customers. However, you were both offered a fresh coffee, free of charge, and were refunded your unsatisfactory order.
Our regular coffees are made with one shot of espresso and large coffees are made with two, and customers have the option to add an additional shot for a small additional charge. All our prices reflect the care and attention we give to our products, and the quality of our ingredients.
We are proud to serve Atkinsons Coffee, a premium brand that sources beans from around the world and roasts them in Lancaster. We grind the beans freshly throughout the day at The Folly, and we follow Atkinsons' own recipe when brewing every coffee.

A pleasant cafe with a number of rooms. They have some delicious looking cakes, though my fruit scone was a little on the dry side. The other food that we saw looked very nice but was slightly on the high side, price wise. The coffee was the biggest let down. My Cappuccino was completely insipid and tasted of luke warm milk minus any noticeable coffee. I ended up leaving half of it. As nice as all the cakes look, coffee is the most important thing in a coffee shop.

We're so sorry that your coffee wasn't up to our usual high standards. We would have been very happy to replace or refund your cappuccino because we absolutely agree: coffee should be the best thing about a coffee shop!

We ordered 2 hot drinks, a bacon roll and a cheese scone. The drinks came a few minutes later and were very good; we drank them and chatted, but, a half hour later, the food hadn’t arrived, so I went and asked. The helpful girl at the counter said she’d check, went to the kitchen and told us it would just be a few minutes. The bacon roll arrived a few minutes later, but the scone took another 5 minutes, by which time my husband had nearly finished his roll. The scone was very good, but came without any butter, which I had to go and ask for. We have no complaints about the food, which was good, but the wait wait seemed lengthy, and especially as several couples came in, looking for a table, but left because there wasn’t one

Thanks so much for taking the time to review us, Sue. We're so glad you enjoyed your food, but we are sorry about the wait time. Summer is our peak time and we can get very busy, as you'd seen. However, we always strive to get food orders out together, so we're sorry about the delay this time.

Stopped in Settle for a coffee and found this interesting cafe. It is set in this ancient and interesting building. Also in the building was a small gallery and museum the later was closed.
We had flat white coffees plus a slice of tea loaf with Wensleydale cheese. These were quickly served and the tea loaf and cheese were very good. The coffee was a bit weak.

Service and food are exceptional each time I visit. The coffee is a local blend and always served with a small homemade shortbread, lovely touch.
The bacon sandwich on seeded granary bread is of the finest quality,no watery processed bacon or dry roll here.
I recommend this coffee house to everyone who I meet visiting Settle .

The best bacon sandwich in Settle! That's high praise indeed! We look forward to seeing you again soon - and we've just added a new guest blend coffee that changes each month, from the same local supplier. Thanks so much for rating us!

Have enjoyed day trips to Settle since Covid and discovered the Folly by chance walking from the Greenfoot Car Park. It is definitely worth your while searching out if you arrive by train and find yourself in the centre of Settle. Ignore the temptation of those more prominent cafes and find the Folly. We sat in comfort in front of burning log fire and ate delicious very reasonably priced food including parsnip and apple soup, mushrooms and scrambled egg on sourdough toast, ginger scone, fat rascal, teas and a variety of coffees. Wonderful relaxed ambiance with friendly professional waiting staff.

Lovely little coffee shop in part of a quaint old museum. All staff Covid friendly and masked. Hand gel on tables. Really reasonable prices for drinks- pot of Yorkshire tea only £2.00 and comes with the most delicious tasting shortbread in Great Britain. Just a shame I had had an early lunch. Cakes looked scrumptious too. Exceptionally clean premises.

We came in as a group of 12 after traipsing around settle looking for somewhere for lunch; we arrived at the Folly and the staff were very happy to make room for us. They made sure we had everything we needed and rectified 1 incorrect order really quickly. The staff were so friendly, happy and helpful and got our orders to us right away, despite the cafe being busy.
They would definitely be our first choice when visiting settle again!

Coeliac safety was 5/5. Went with my husband and parents. It was very busy so we did have a wait but the staff were lovely and we were warned about the wait….. but worth it for the gluten free scones! Wow! Warm and home made. Also there were crumpets and tea cakes available and when I asked about separate toasters they had a dedicated grill and area for gf. Definitely be back x

Booked a table for lunch , kept waiting at the door for over ten minutes people behind me left the queue after a long wait .
The wait was due to the old lady having trouble with the till. Sat down and then ordered lunch over 15 mins plus wait . The soup and sandwiches were
Good when it arrived . No scones left so had carrot cake also nice .
Service point needs addressing . Young waitress was not happy in her job it wasn’t service with a smile that’s for sure

We're sorry your visit was not up to our high standards, R Jones. Unfortunately there can be a bit of a wait at busy periods while tables are properly sanitised, and the narrowness of our entrance means each group must wait their turn before entering. As I'm sure you can appreciate, at busy times there can also be a short wait for food- this is the trade off we have to make to serve freshly made and freshly prepared food!
