As we normally stay in Goathland and visit Whitby we decided to do it in reverse this time and after a close scrutiny of Tripadvisor we chose to stay here at the Stables. It certainly lived up to the billing. The rooms arranged around the courtyard are beautifully fitted out and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was enormous and... More

Loved this place. Such a wonderful building. Loved reading about how the place became after the terrible story of the culling of the cows :-( We had a lovely table in the conservatory area with a view of the pond and bridge, the service was truly delightful and nothing was too much trouble. I order the fish as my son... More

Firstly we would like to thank you for your kind comments about our business. We are keen enough to take the plaudits that come our way so it is equally important to listen to the negatives, so thank you. We are extremely proud of what we and our staff have achieved over the last 12 years. Regarding frozen fish, indeed... More

This place is super charming and cozy, the epitome of the Danish word hygge. The restaurant is actually old stables, and the wood work and details in decorating really give it a classic feel, and the fireplace keeps you warm on an otherwise frosty January eve. We came here on a Sunday at 4 pm and unfortunately they'd run out... More

This is the first time we have visited Cross Butts and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We were spending the Christmas weekend in Whitby and made our booking by telephone. Our table was reserved for 12 o'clock and arriving slightly early, we were immediately shown to our table, collecting a glass of bubbly on the way. The service throughout was... More

All businesses such as ourselves are keen enough to accept the plaudits and congratulations when our staff have really worked hard and customers are extremely happy, it is only right that we should accept negative criticism as well. Unfortunately in this case we have had trouble with this individual whom we have had to ban from our social media due... More

We stayed for two nights and could easily have stayed a week! Room was fantastic! Breakfast was the best! We decided to have a meal in the restaurant on our second night and to be honest this was a big mistake! We should have went in both nights!!!! Great value for money and fantastic service. Will be back in 2017... More
