Had a lovely meal here - dining room is a bit old fashioned but staff were lovely and a nice selection of vegetarian options available. As a Sam Smith venue, no branded beers but alternatives were all good. This is a cash only venue which meant one of us had to pop out after the meal, but luckily there is... More

Picked this pub with its upstairs restaurant offering harbour and Abbey views and definitely made the correct choice - homely dining room, and a good menu with a wide variety of food to choose from, all standard British grub.We opted for the 10oz gammon steak, which came with pineapple or egg with chips and peas or salad- cooked perfectly and... Tradition pub decor and friendly staff. Drinks are far cheaper in here than most of the pubs in Whitby.

Wanted an early evening meal without chips! Went upstairs above the Jolly Sailors. We were the only customers (started to fill up before we left). Waitress very friendly & happy to change menu (chips to mash potato & peas to cabbage............) Food very good, freshly cooked & plentiful, tea in a large pot with extra hot water. Good service. Great... More

Decided to take the boys in for the quiz, free to enter and was a good laugh , the staff made you feel very welcome, The only downside was its a Samuel Smiths pub , so they only have the brewery ales , the upside is £2 pint for Sams real ale. the pub also does food which looked lovely... More

Called in for a well deserved drink with my 3 boys after walking around Whitby. Really friendly staff and the pub was really busy. Organic Lager chilled to perfection with ice cold Cola.

Managed to get waitress attention. She had forgot about our order. However she wAs so lovely and friendly and once the food came it was... More

My local is a Sam Smiths so always pay a visit when in Whitby. Good traditional pub. Good beer at a good price plus an open fire which is great on a cold day! Clearly a pub with local regulars who are all friendly people.
