The Quayside is our first choice in Whitby. We have always been put off the Magpie by the queues to get in so are not able to draw a comparison, but can say with confidence that the Quayside does great fish and chips and the options for those who don't want traditional battered fish are also really good. The service... More

Best, best fish and chips ever (mushy peas, bread and a pot of tea). While we were waiting had a glass of Dandelion & Burdock! Service was great the only downside was the cost but the quality more than made up for it

The best gluten free fish and chips I've had in Whitby. I had a take out meal but there is an option to sit in.

The staff were friendly, and served us straight away. We did not have to wait long for our food, and it was delicious with a lovely crisp batter on the fish. Also, the cup of tea I had was perfect.

Last time we visited it was as good as the time before - totally consistent. Basic haddock or cod and chips are really good. Great pots of tea - service is extremely efficient. They will also skin everything

Pleasant staff, noisy restaurant as it is not divided from the takeaway. Cheap enough but I'd rather pay more and get tasty. This wasn't; the fish was ok but no real flavour and of modest size, the tartar sauce was industrial, the chips and mushy peas were soggy. Tasted like the stuff you get inland in Yorkshire, which we avoid...... More

We were drawn to the Quayside by the smell of someone's passing fish and chips. I asked if they tasted as good as they smelt and was given a chip to try - they did! We ate ours out of paper, sitting on the harbour as the sun went down. Lovely!
