Our trip to the Vinyl Cafe was predominantly for my husband who loves records but both my son and I also enjoyed our visit to this one of a kind cafe. The drinks here were lovely. We didn't order any food as the menu is somewhat limited but from what I could see on other tables, food was fresh and very much enjoyed. The main draw here is the vinyl on sale at the side of the cafe which you can browse whilst you wait for your order and my husband did end up coming away with one to add to his collection. He tells me the prices were reasonable and he was more than happy with his vinyl find. The FortyFive Vinyl Cafe seems a very popular place to spend an hour or so and every table was full whilst we were there. We would definitely come back if back in York again.

Popped in for a browse of records on a recent trip to York. While in there we decided to get a bit of lunch. We ordered the ABC grilled cheese made vegan, that we split between 2 of us. Gorgeous - cheese, avocado, bacon and chilli jam, will be trying this out myself at home I think! Easy and quick lunch spot with lots of vegan options.

Very dog friendly. We visited as a family of 8 plus three dogs. The toasties and drink were delicious and the dogs were all given treats and a bowl full of water. A bonus was the free juke box.

My husband and I were passing by this place so many times we finally decided to visit it for a brunch. The stuff was very smiley and we were quickly helped but... our cappuccinos tasted like there is no coffee in them, just warm milk. The toasts... I’m sorry but they were shocking! £5,90 for 1 toast in a plastic basket?! We had 2 different toasts but they tasted exactly the same. For that price we expected an artisan bread or at least to be served on a plate with few salad leaves? Furthermore there was no toilet paper, the hand dryer was off and the hand sanitiser bottle at the entrance was empty. We paid £18 for this poor experience. Sorry, but we won’t be back.

Today my wife and I visited the cafe as we've wanted to check it out for sometime now and I'm afraid that you've lost a customer. We ordered a flat white which might as well have been warm milk my wife ordered a cappuccino which was the same. The staff member that served us was so abrupt. Giving the fact the business are struggling with Covid, perhaps you should make customers feel more welcome.

Popped in for a quick drink and vinyl browse mid afternoon. The cafe was busy but not packed and we had tea, soft drinks and a pint of Erdinger low alcohol beer which was surprisingly good. The cafe has a nice atmosphere and does acoustic music sessions some evenings which I would like to return to see. We didn’t eat but from what I saw the food looked good. I’m all for supporting independent businesses especially ones that try to do things differently like the vinyl cafe. Will definitely return when back in York.

Stopped by for a cuppa whilst in York and what a find! After talking to Ian the owner I bought a ticket for the cafes inaugural gig night and it was the best £6 I've spent in ages. The support (Harrison) and the main event (David James Smith) we're both great entertainment. It's an intimate venue, Max's out around fifty or so for a gig but has a great drinks selection to oil the wheels. I'd definitely visit again be that for a drink & snack or for one of the planned gigs. I wish the owners well as this was a ten week old venture for them. Definitely better than a solo night in the hotel.

First time visit for us as we came across this cafe as we walked past. It looked inviting, different. I’m a keen album collector so was excited. The service was slow however, very polite. The menu is minimal, serving a few choices of toasted sandwiches. My chicken one was tasty but my hubbys beef one was tough and not so nice. The coffee was watery. After looking at the album selection, I quickly realised they were 90% remastered and not originals, which was disappointing.

Oh I love this place!! We didn't know where to go for breakfast, so upon finding the menu online for here and realising they do Vegan options, we had to go! It's so cosy inside, you can even look at the vinyls for sale whilst waiting for your food. I had the Mush-A-Boom Grilled Sandwich, was perfect!

I pass this regularly on the bus, when going home from York, and keep meaning to pop in. Well, today was the day! Decent mug of Yorkshire tea, and I really loved the grilled cheese sandwich that I had (an ABC - avocado, bacon and cheese with chilli jam). It really was delicious, very hot, and came quickly. My husband enjoyed his coffee, and also his sandwich; he didn't offer me a taste, so it must have been good! It seems that most, if not all of the sandwich offerings could be made vegan

Four of us went to a pre booked music night at FortyFive Vinyl cafe for the launch of a young singer/songwriter last night. The event was ticket only. Staff were pleasant, stage area was very small but well set up, & the atmosphere was great. We didn't eat here as no food was available at night, but we had eaten prior to going. We did however get drinks, (bottle of water, coke, beers, gin & coffees) good prices. Toilets were clean, and although one toilet had run out of paper, as soon as I mentioned it to the staff they rectified it straight away. The albums & music posters displayed on the walls are great.

We had brunch here, really nice place and friendly staff. Very comfortable to sit and chill. Fun selection of records. They appeared to also offer various music, talk and film nights. Only thing was it was more expensive then what we would normally pay for food, but tasted good!

Popped in for a takeaway coffee on our way into town. Three of us stood at the counter for 3 minutes while five men were behind the bar and not one of them acknowledged us. They were chatting amongst themselves and looked very relaxed as they had two tables in. I was standing there quite confused as a simple "we'll be with you in a minute" would have been absolutely fine but it was as if we were invisible. We left in the end as it was clear none of the staff wanted our business.

Hi there firstly thank you for taking the time to review the cafe and the service you received, at this point all I can do is apologise and try and understand on this occasion what went wrong. You will see from recent posts that your review is very different from the norm and as this can have such a dramatic effect on a small business I would like to investigate properly. From what I can gather at this point my belief is you were in the shop at around 5.10pm. If this timing is right we did have a couple of other tables still there however the cafe was effectively closed. We have only had the cafe a few weeks and due to some staff shortages some of our friends came in and helped us during the day. I believe unfortunately that is what you saw and experienced. As I say your reviews are extremely important and appreciated however do need to be fully investigated as this can affect our business for some time to come, to that end if you could provide some more details to me directly I will endeavour to provide you with some more context. Info@fortyfiveuk.com. Once again sincere apologies for the service you received and we would welcome you back at any time to try and rectify the situation in person

It really shouldn’t take 30 minutes to get a couple of coffees. Oh and when they do arrive you shouldn’t really spill them over people and fail to even apologise. The waitress was yawning and really looked like she wanted to be anywhere else. Plus the bathroom was covered in pee. Avoid .

You must try the white hot chocolate, it is delicious. I have mine extra hot, otherwise it goes too quickly. The Latte is good too. Service is excellent and the place is always lovely and clean. Leather sofa for the comfy seat and wooden benches and chairs for the rest. Mini bins on the table for your sugar wrapper etc, great idea. quirky deco, popular place.
