I visit La Bottega on a weekly basis when working in York. Lovely atmosphere and owners. The barrista's are lovely and always have a smile on their faces! They also do the best coffees and brownies in York! 10/10

We stopped off here for coffee and cake with friends. The coffee was wonderful and the staff extremely helpful. The cakes we had were sublime. We will definitely return for lunch.
We are always on the look out for the best cinnamon bun since our favourite place stopped doing them. We have a winner!! Not only are the cinnamon buns and lovely coffee but we loved the service we received . Good customer service is becoming...so hard to find but this place nailed it. First time we have been but looked at the menu, loved time spent here and we will definitely be back!More
With the abundance of places to eat in York, it's difficult to stand out. However, we really enjoyed our first visit here today and will be back. It's quite expensive, but the pannini, bruschetta, cakes and coffee were all excellent so we didn't mind paying...a bit extra. The negative reviews on here seem to focus on the staff. Our experience was that they welcomed us in, explained all about the specials and cakes on diplay, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. They all seemed very friendly throughout. A genuine Italian run café and I would recommend this place.More
Wonderful food, especially the panini and the cakes are delicious. Definitely a place not to miss whether just for coffee and a cake or a larger lunch. Topped off with a warm welcome
We popped in here for a light lunch and chose the "Specials" of the day, a delicious Bruschetta with buffalo mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and cured ham served on local bakers sourdough bread with a side salad and dressing. It was a nice touch that the...chef came to ask how our lunch was. Afterwards, we could not resist the sweets which were equally as delicious. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, with many different local or Italian produce to purchase too! We will certainly return in the future. Thank you to all at La Bottega.More
Only open four days a week. Decided to give it a visit after no going for a long time. Professional Italian family style place very friendly appears to be run by a cultured Italian couple given recommendations of what’s on offer above the line service...albeit not a vast menu. Nice outside garden to the rear food was well presented and coffee good. Quality place will visit again.More
Absolutely the best pastries we’ve ever eaten. I had an almond croissant and husband had the cinnamon bun….OMG both were amazing, coffee and hot chocolate stunning too. Sat in the lovely courtyard and had peregrine falcons fly overhead. Friendly and efficient staff - would highly...recommend.More
We popped in here for a coffee on our last morning in York. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and we both laughed when my friend ordered a cannelloni with her latte, rather than a cannoli! I opted for a cappuccino. It was...quite busy inside and so the items did take quite a while to arrive and when they did my coffee was sadly luke warm. The lady seemed to be rushed off her feet though and so I just drank as much of it that I could. My friend enjoyed her cannoli but as I don’t like them, I didn’t try it.More
Although having lived in York for more years than I care to remember, this was our visit here but certainly won’t be the last! The cappuccino was one of the best I have ever had ! We were spoilt for choice when it came to...the cakes but opted to share the pain au raisin as it was very large -=and delicious!More
Simply THE best coffee in York, breakfast & cakes with attentive staff & truly authentically Italian atmosphere, highly recommended
My partner and I stopped here for lunch after wandering around the shambles for a bite to eat as the window display looked good and the menu tickled our fancy. We were in the mood for a light lunch and the panini options appealed to...us. There are several filling choices available on three different breads; focaccia, ciabatta or Italian flatbread. There was also two specials on offer which the owner talked us through, and whilst looked tempting, we decided to go for the artisan roast ham and the Parma ham paninis on different breads (focaccia and ciabatta). To go with our food we ordered a coffee and a soft drink. I would usually go for a Flat White, but this was not on the menu so I opted for a Cortado as I don’t particularly enjoy large milky coffee. However, I did notice later on that another customer ordered a Flat White without it being a problem. They were obviously in ‘the know’ and were aware of the secret menu not advertised to newcomers. Why not just put it on the menu if you are going to sell them?? The coffee was disappointingly poor to say there was an expectation of ‘Authentic Italian Coffee’ and the effort to promote the use of award winning coffee is featured on the socials. The espresso tasted burnt and bitter, if not a little boozy (unintentional) and the texture was too airy and dry. Almost half the cup was just froth, far from the small layer of smooth foam you would expect at the top of a well made Cortado. You can have the best beans in the world, but if you butcher it at the coffee machine you do an injustice to the hard working people who grow and roast it. The paninis however were very tasty and we were pleased with the two choices we went for. We personally enjoyed the Artisan Roast Ham and Smoked Scamorza Cheese Panini because the flavour combinations were slightly different to sandwich fillings offered in many other places. Service was friendly but the system seemed a little chaotic and left some customers a little muddled. There didn’t seem much organisation and things felt a bit ‘off the cuff‘, which insistently wasn’t an issue for us but could become a problem during busier periods.More
Absolute gem of a place. Very friendly owners and staff. Great coffee, breakfasts and Italian pastries. Were more than happy to make us sandwiches for our train journey home. We loved our daily visits here.
Nice little coffee shop just outside the main part of the city centre with quirky decor! Tasty pastries - would recommend the ‘cro-nut’ and almond danish. Pleasant staff who were welcoming. Very much does the job!
Attended the store today 27/09/22 as I saw the outstanding Battenburg cake in the window as I was walking by. Bought a slice or should I say slab to take away. It did not disappoint, the sponge was moist and flavourful and the marzipan was...1st class. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️More
