We live in York, and have been to Lucia's before. We were booking a table for December in order to entertain visiting elderly relatives for lunch. Knowing it's a very busy time of year, we had hoped to be ensured of a table in the...enclosed restaurant, but all those tables were booked for the time we wanted. We examined the options and decided we'd book a table for the inside section not far from the bar. Having done that we also decided to do the ultimate test and try out the lunch. The service was good and friendly, the food was delicious, and even though we were outside, we weren't uncomfortable. However, the reason for the four star review is the 'Music'. It did nothing to enhance the atmosphere and could not be termed background, just session musicians and singers banging out the usual Xmas caterwauling. Lucias is a delightful Italian restaurant in a lovely location. With respect, if you feel your customers need music, PLEASE would you choose something quieter, more in the background and of an Italian flavour. Christmas shopping is stressful enough!More

As a family of 4 (3 adults 1 child) we visited on Sunday 26 November a very busy time for any restaurant in York with the markets. From the booking process to paying the bill we cannot fault this restaurant. We all had some sort...of steak dish for our mains and all were amazingly great tasting. There’s something on the menu for everyone and my daughters pizza was also amazing. The staff were great, the atmosphere perfect for our family, we were inside but their was an outdoor heated area which I’d love to come back and try. Overall would highly recommend for anyone visiting York this festive season.More

Lovely place, very elegantly decorated and a nice place to have a drink, or food. We popped in for a drink, and sat at the front bar. I enjoyed the Amalfy Coast Spritz, while my husband enjoyed the Lucia lager. Made to feel welcome, and...the staff were friendly and helpful during our visit. We will be back to enjoy the atmosphere!More

Went last year on our annual visit to York, so we booked again this year, as usual fantastic 5* service and meal, made more special by the caring, helpful and friendly staff. The meal was excellent hot and nicely presented and tastey will book in...again when we visit york hopefully more often Thank you all for making our day specialMore

Have been to Lucia's before & absolutely loved it, so booked again for when we visited the Christmas market. Food as usual was first class & I can recommend that anything chosen would be delicious & cooked to perfection. What soured our taste on this...occasion was that upon booking, we received a confirmation that the table would be booked from 1pm until 2.45pm, so we were quite put out when the waitress came to our table at 2.25pm with the bill & said that we would have to leave in 5 minutes as the table was needed. We said that our booking said that we could stay until 2.45pm & she said oh yes, you can stay for 10 minutes. We thought that this was extremely rude as we hadn't asked for the bill, but just got given to us, & the table next to us had been vacant for about half an hour & there was no queue waiting to come in. We mentioned this to staff & also to the lady as we were leaving who said that she could only appologise, would have words & hoped it didnt stop us from returning. To be honest, it did sour the rest of the day for us & really not sure if we will return unfortunately.More

This restaurant is hidden away a little, but it is certainly worth finding close to The Shambles. We arrived with no booking and was told we would have a table in 45 minutes so we went elsewhere for a drink and returned at 8pm. The...restaurant was totally full and we were seated outside in Mid November. This proved to be no problem as the outside heaters / fires were more than adequate, and added to the experience. The ambience made us feel like we were in Tenerife in February. Obviously a very popular restaurant with lovely food at a fair price. Ill be back!More

We arrived a little before our booking time as we had done a lot of walking and needed a sit down. Table not ready so we were shown to the bar which was fine and drinks were great. We waited for a while but nobody...came for us, went to check if table was ready 15 minutes after our booking time, to which they said it was and sorry for the wait they had been busy and sounded like they had forgotten us. Once we were sat down order was taken within a reasonable time and food came out really quick. All food was nice but I highly recommend the garlic cheese pinwheel! Overall enjoyed our visit and it would have been 5 stars if we hadn’t felt forgotten about at the start.More

I notified the restaurant it was my friends birthday and they made her feel special giving her a birthday card and dessert with a candle the staff are not only professional and polite the service as well as the food is excellentMore

On arrival our reserved table wasn’t ready so we were shown into the bar, not a problem. We ordered drinks including a cocktail. The barman whilst making it put his bare hand over the top of the glass to stop the contents spilling out whilst...shaking it. He then took a piece of mint rubbed the stem with his hand and placed it in the drink. Finally he took a straw and placed it in the glass. Everything else in the restaurant is so professional and well organised. They need to give the barman a lesson in hygiene.More

Lovely food in a fabulous setting. Tom was brilliant in recommending pasta and wine. Really made our date night.More

An amazing experience, great atmosphere all staff very nice, food amazing. Not realising when we came it was a race weekend, after our meal we left and then struggled to get anywhere to go for a drink, on return to the restaurant the front of...house staff recognised us and allowed us to visit the cocktail bar for the evening which we gladly did try alot on the menu, great end to the evening watching the world go by.More
