Very tasty food. Don't sit near the front door in winter. Recommend the crab starter, then try the Portuguese beef. Absolutely delightful.

Three of us dined here on a busy Saturday night. Great options for anyone with allergies, especially Gluten Free dishes, including Dosas. We shared 3 starters. Madras Kohzi - 3 flattened fillets of chicken in a lovely rub, Tandoori Sesame Prawns, just amazing and my...favourite, traffic light chicken. All were cooked to perfection and spice levels just right. Main courses were also amazing. Duck, Fish and Chicken curries with sides. Again, all perfectly cooked and just beautiful. Until last night my favourite Keralan restaurant was in Leeds, which is ace but this was even better. Not expensive, great service and amazing food. One of my favourite meals of all time. Didn't attend eatery ordered take away through deliveroo. Having ordered our food waited an hour. Unable to find our address 🤔 On the menu poppadoms come under the heading; 'Pre meal snacks' £4.95. I can't say how many you get because they were absent from...the delivery. Spent close to £50 quid on the take away. No excuses charging that much how hard can it be? I wonder how many people go without their Pre meal Snack at £4.95 and write it off!!! A nice lil earner. Food tasted ok but the portions are small. Welcome to Ripoffsville. Not happy. Won't be returning simply because paying 50 quid for the meal to omit part of the order simply isn't good enough.More

Went for dinner with my daughter at the end of a few days’ trip away for us both. It was easy to book a table and we were greeted by friendly staff when we arrived. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the menu is...full of choice. Our food arrived promptly and was hot and delicious. We’d definitely return next time we visit.More

Outstanding food & always a genuine warm welcome!. Well it was cold and wet last night, so perfect night for a tasty curry. I opted for the Lamb Curry, with rice & Peshawari nan. As usual it was absolutely delightful, well marinated and full of...flavour, not the usual cobbled together rubbish you get at some other restaurants, here the owner/chef takes real pride in their creations. Other dishes to not are the fish in sauce grilled banana leaf... mmm. Cant wait for the next time. 10 out of 10 !.More

Excellent Indian restaurant in central York. A comprehensive menu with a good mix of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Portions were large and every thing was well cooked and flavourful. Service was attentive and friendly.

Having been disappointed in a lot of the Indian food we’d tried in York since the closure of Akbars, we decided to give Kalpakavadi a try. We received a really warm, friendly welcome on a cold Saturday evening. The restaurant was lovely and warm with...a buzzy atmosphere. We enjoyed reading about this family owned restaurant, with food from the Keralan region of India. And the food… oh the food is just wonderful. It definitely did not disappoint! The poppadoms were served with some different pickles to the ones we’d tried before. All absolutely delicious. We had the paneer and crab to start, both were extremely tasty. And then the traditional keralan curry and biryani for main. We both enjoyed every mouthful! The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. Would recommend 100% and we will definitely be back!More
