We always pay a visit to this Nicholson's pub in York. Good atmosphere and great selections of real ales. If you are eating, then you cannot go past the selection of pies/

Very slow service (Saturday, 3:30). Most pubs in York were busy but even still, the service was very slow. Was slightly offput as the majority of the bar area was consumed by empties, no-where really to lean on the bar. Pub seemed busy but hidden...More

Anyone who visits York with a dog should pay this pub a visit as the landlady and staff are superb. The food is good pub grub and you can order food for your dog as well.

A promise of fresh pub cooked food :- what a let down. The beef was RAW ( not rare) and cold. The parsnips (frozen) were frazzled, as were the carrots. The cabbage like rubber and the Yorkshire pud ( a rock hard Aunt Bessie )...More

We met up here with relatives for a chat. The pub as a nice friendly atmosphere and a little less of the hustle and bustle of some York venues. Only had a beer and didn't eat here but an enjoyable pint.
