Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited for lunch at the Speakcheesey, and the toasties were amazing! The best toastie I've ever had! The blend of cheese in the three cheese toastie was perfect and well complemented by the red onion marmalade. It's got a lovely vibe inside, and a...great selection of cheeses from the shop available! We were served by Cordi who was friendly, enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable about cheese.More

My wife and I visited York to meet our son who lives here . We fancied a light bite and happened upon Love Cheese and how lucky we were . We were greeted by the delightful Cordi who recommended a selection of cheeses that were...excellent ,this was a hard task I am a very fussy cheese eater . To complement the cheese Cordi recommended an excellent wine . If in York please visit you will not be Disappointed..More

Such a great experience! The server (apologies I didn't catch your name) was SO helpful and selected an amazing selection for our afternoon tea. The wines were just so smooth and lush and the server nailed his choices for us for the afternoon tea and...was so friendly and helpful- we really couldn't have asked for more.More

We loved it here, great food, lovely friendly staff and amazing wine. The inside was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. We only had a toastie and olives (which were amazing) in the end but I wish we'd had more! Great selection of...cheese and chutneys on the counter. I would highly recommend the white rioja, it was deliciousMore

Wanted a cheese toastie with ham in - the menu does cheese and meat boards and has noted under toasties that customers can make their own as there are only 3 on offer. I was refused any meat in the toastie which defeats the point...of make your own. You can only make your own toastie with cheese and choices of spread like chilli jam. My wine was also supposed to be large but didn’t feel that way.More

Gorgeous little 'Speakcheesy' restaurant with a wonderful vibe. Excellent selection of cheeses, crackers, breads and sides and wines to go with them. Staff helpful and friendly. If I lived in York I'd definitely be a regular! As it was, my friend and I had a...great time catching up over our food in unhurried and relaxed setting. Thank you!More

Lovely visit to the cafe. The waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable around the cheese they serve. I had the 5 piece cheese board and it was very tasty. For me the only minor thing that let it down was the lack of nice background...music.More

We visited on an afternoon after a wander around the Christmas Market, the location is good, just out of the centre. I had booked a table however it was only us in the "speakcheesy" cafe. (There was a sign saying closed for private function) Ordered...the 5 cheeseboard, along with some breads and Italian meats. They accommodated my partners gluten free requirements too. Brought home a large piece of my favourite cheese too. A lovely visit.More

We visited for my wife's birthday and I kept the location a surprise, her face lit up when we were shown to our table. We ordered the Cheese afternoon tea, I asked our server to choose the cheese for us. Every piece was delicious and...the Italian meats went well with the meal. The French wine was light and fresh and refreshing. Thanks for a great meal, we will be back very soon.More

We had the excellent cheese toasties - one Gorgonzola and chutney and one make your own (goats cheese and pear chutney) which were absolutely divine. A glass of red and a local beer went down well. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The speakcheesy was cosy...for lunch and the garden area looked nice. Fab shop and if we hadn’t been travelling home by train we would have bought cheese to go. A really lovely place and we would love to return if visiting York.More

What a little gem of a place. You walk in and are greeted by a counter full of wonderful cheeses. The cafe is small but cosy and laid back. The staff were so friendly and clearly used to customers who can't make their mind up...about which cheese. I would highly recommend.More
