I popped in on Saturday morning for a break inbetween the jobs and shopping in town. It was about 10.30 so relatively quiet - it can be very busy at lunchtimes. I had tea and a toasted teacake and found a quiet corner to enjoy it in. The lunch menu looked appealing - and from previous visits I know it... More

Situated in an old church... transformed into a cafe come meeting place it also houses a shop selling charity items. the main dining area is fairly large... but at busy times it's hard to get a table... still it's worth a visit .. although the menu is fairly light in its variety.. The day we visited it was very busy...... More

I have visited The Spurriergate Centre Cafe several times on my visits to York. Situated in a former Church which continues to provide spiritual outreach and counselling services, the cafe comprises an upper and lower level. The lower level has a play area and is very popular with young families. The upper level is more of a coffee shop, but... More

This building was a church that is now a cafe, shop and meeting place. My husband and I went into the Spurriergate Centre Cafe for a light lunch. There are some positives, such as the spaciousness and the fact that there is a soft play area for children. If is a self service cafe and it just seemed sooooo slow,... More

Great place for breakfast and lunch...plenty of seating with an indoor soft play area for children. I've taken my granddaughters here and they provide a trolley with all toddler crockery, beakers, bibs, should you forget to bring them. I love their homemade scones... Staff are very polite and helpful...i certainly recommend this cafe...it's different and it's set within the church...they have... More

I meet my sister in York from time to time, and invariably come here for lunch. There is a first-floor cafe serving coffee and cake and a Fair Trade stall in the entrance. The cafe/restaurant serving hot food is downstairs. You order and pay at the till. Food is wholesome and home made. It can be very busy at lunch... More

Had a great stop here in York - very family friendly & a great place to escape the city & play in the little soft play area. Great food & even microwaves to warm baby food. Lovely helpful staff. We will definitely return & recommend it.

Visited today. No longer can you be quickly served at the counter where the food is displayed. Food is ordered at the till; clients are expected to quote their table number before even having a chance to identify a vacant table in the main restaurant. We were not given a till receipt and had to clear our selected table of... More

A remarkable place to eat because of the building. We chose to eat upstairs and ordered from the bar. I had a hot Kirche Lorraine and Yorkshire tea. Quick service and attractively displayed with salad.
