High Quality Products, Polite Staff & Amazing Location.

I popped in here with my girlfriend on the final day of our trip to York, grabbing some Pork Pies for her dad, she treated me to a pastie which was absolutely delicious. The staff inside were incredibly polite and welcoming. I'll definitely pop in again when I'm in the area to try more of their delights.

Excellent meat pies of all variety

My family of seven happened by this shop and everything looks so good we purchased a variety of items for lunch. We had the steak and ale pie, the chicken and leek pie, several sausage rolls, and several pork pies. Everything was fantastic. There wasn't a bad item and the service was friendly and humorous. The cost was extremely good, and I feel we got a lot of food for our money. Additionally, it is located in the Shambles, which is a small narrow street with a lot of charm.

Pork Pies

Recent day visit to York could not resist giving some of these Pies a go. The Pork and black pudding was fantastic with very little gel inside however pie was very moist and the pastry flacky and tasty. Chilly pork pie again fantastic and was not to spicy, but it did leave your mouth hot after eating. Steak Pie was good but i found it a little dry to eat with not a lot of gravy in it. Last but not least red onion sausage roll,very tasty. I would recommend them all but my favourite was the pork and black pudding the two ingredients just go well together. Do yourself a favour when visiting york and try these local pies

We have always liked the chilli pork pies here & have always made a point to visit when we are in York. Not sure whether it's still the same owners/ shop as the name has the changed. We got the 3 chilli pork pies left (£2.20 each) & had them immediately! The filling of the pie was tasty with the right level of spice but the pastry was a tad too hard! Overall, glad we had them again though not sure they were as good as previous visits.

We purchased a couple of pies here, but only 1 out of 2 were good. We purchased the wild bore pie and the macaroni & cheese pie. The macaroni & cheese was delicious, but the wild bore was very salty and extremely greasy, and after one bite we threw it away. I’d say give it a try and hopefully you’ll have better luck than us.

Pork and Black Pudding Pie simply outstanding

Had a day trip to York on the train with my wife and during our gentle bimble around york came across this little treasure of a shop. Port and Black Pudding Pie was crying out to me and then I spotted the black pudding sausages. Lets just say I will be going back for more on my next trip. The pork and black pudding pie was just right, not tough or fatty the blend was perfect and the pastry tremendous.

Chill & Black Pudding pies

It's a treat finding this place in Shambles, York City. Their pies window display looked amazing and smelt great that it stopped me on my track! I had the chilli pie and took some black pudding pie back to our hotel. They were delish! Be warned, the chilli pie is spicy hot (and being Thai, I can eat HOT).

YORK EGG - food from the Gods!!

On a previous trip to York & a wander down The Shambles I had chanced into this small pie shop. On that visit the York Egg caught my attention, so I tried one. It proved to be a good choice. A return visit to the the centre of York & another trip around the Shambles meant a return visit was necessary to make sure the York Egg was still available, and was as good as I remembered. It was. Hang the expense, I bought TWO..! (Joking, as they are only £3 - which is well on par with some of the more standard supermarket Scotch Egg versions - but with the York Egg you have a much better product) Still have one of the two that I purchased yesterday - so the plan to experience this one is as a part accompaniment with chips or roast potatoes, or ??? With the addition of a decent mayonnaise or another sauce I imagine it could be even better - maybe Dijon mustard would be the magic extra?

Fabulous pies and sausage rolls

We picked up Cornish Pasties (one traditional shortcrust pastry, one flaky pastry). Both were delicious, great fillings. We also had the Toulouse Sausage rolls - very garlicky, which is exactly as it should be, with lovely herbs. Lastly, the pork pie is one of the best I have ever had. It was a delight to find that a pie shop on such a busy tourist street delivers in the best possible way. Great value too!

Stumbled across this gem this morning. Down the tourist Mecca of The Shambles and the window display tempted me into a couple of purchases. The hog roast pastry (sausage in pastry) was poor. Didn’t seem fresh, cold and maybe been out of the oven longer than I’d like. Luckily the York egg I had was a real treat (egg wrapped in stuffing and bacon). Worth taking the trip for, was straight from the oven, succulent and tasty.

York Egg=greatest food I have ever eaten!

Stopped here along the shambles for a quick snack. Was going to get a pork pie but then saw a monstrous creation called a York egg. Boiled egg,wrapped in delicious sausage near, then wrapped in bacon! A heavenly combo! And honestly the best food item I've ever eaten. Will deffo be back to get more here

The Tolouse sausage roll was absolutely fantastic. The pork pies are amazing, as are the sausages (we got Tolouse and Shambles- both delicious!) The ox cheek pie was really good and so was the Mac and cheese pie. Lovely, friendly staff too.

Homemade Pies & Pasties

Quick service and delicious pies. Got the sausauge rolls and a pie. Cute window service and great value. This is so much better than other high street shops that sell something similar (Greggs). Go here instead of the main chains for a more authentic, tasty treat.

King and Queen of pies in York? It has to be... Only beautiful tasty stuff here. The kind staff advises nicely. The pies are very tasty and beautiful. A pleasure to look at. A delight to eat. Great little place in the Shambles.

Spotted this during a visit to the Shambles and how glad i was that i stopped by. Fantastic range of pies, sausage rolls, pasties etc, wonderful customer service and very good value for money. lovely authentic little pie shop! Wish i could take them all back to France with me for my family and friends to enjoy!
