During my stay in York I searched on the internet for some good restaurants where I could take dinner, and here I was not disappointed. The location is probably about a 15 minute walk outside the city centre, but in my opinion, the visit would be well worthwhile. Whilst it is not what you might call a large restaurant, there... Charming and unpretentious restaurant in a beautiful part of the city. Fine local ingredients prepared with care and (thank God) no silly flourishes. Highly recommended!!

The standard of food at Melton's last night was INCREDIBLE. The 5.30 pm early evening set menu was amazing value - 3 courses for £30. Our photos speak for theirselves. We were sat by the window for the 5.30pm booking - our waitress was kind and so knowledgable. Thank you Melton's.

Found this lovely little place, tucked away in a quiet street away from the city centre. Cosy atmosphere, very attentive and helpful staff. The food is excellent, with a focus on locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection. The wine list is among the best I've come across anywhere, avoiding the big names and instead offering a selection designed to be... More

Ordering on the early menu got us three courses for £30. Given that this also included complimentary bread, coffee, appetisers and a variety of sweet bits over the evening, we felt this was great value. The food is excellent and is exactly what we were hoping for. The staff were attentive and friendly and we didn't feel rushed despite being... More

A ten minute walk from the City centre, partly on the river bank, brings you to a special spot known by the locals, but not on the usual tourist beat. It is up market, discrete. The food is well presented, the staff attentive but not demanding. The menu is original but conservative (with a small c). The wine list is... More

Went as a couple on Saturday for the early bird menu, and we were delighted that once again the meal, service and ambience were up to previous excellent standard. Value for money is brilliant, £30 for 3 courses, including canapés to start, water and filter coffee. Service was attentive, we were not rushed despite being on the "early bird" deal... More

Dined here on Saturday evening. Lovely meal from canapés to dessert. For me as someone with food intolerances it was lovely to enjoy such a lovely meal without any hassle. My only criticism would be that it would have been wonderful to have a dessert that was not sorbet & fruit. But would definitely recommend this restaurant. Friendly staff too.

We visited on Valentines Evening and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was quiet but not too quiet to be lacking, the staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive and the food was divine. The deconstructed rhubarb and ginger crumble was amazing. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in York.

Tuesday lunch. Lunch or early bird menu. All 3 courses were delicious. Could not find any negatives. Service fantastic. Wine great but the food was definitely 'the best'.
