Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice atmosphere, inside or outside dining, you walk through a little lit up passage to get in which is lovely, friendly staff.

Went as a group of 8. Originally booked for 10 so had to pay a deposit. Be warned, this is not returned at the time of paying. It’s refunded which took 4 days to go back into my account! The service certainly needs work. Asked...to order a drink at the bar only to be told “you can sit anywhere”. Once seated we ordered a few drinks while awaiting the rest of our group. Upon being taken to the table we’d asked if we could each pay for our drinks individually only to be told “it’s too busy to keep bringing the card machine back and forth”. There were plenty of empty tables around us. One of the beef mains was returned as wasn’t quite cooked although beef is always subjective. We had to ask someone over a few times to order more drinks as service was definitely slow. The food was ok but certainly not what we’re used to from this restaurant. Their service has completely put us off and we won’t return.More

Our visit was brilliant and surpassed our expectations. Food choice and quality was brilliant. The drinks menu was vast and had quality spirits/wines & the waiting staff were very attentive. We were recommended the steak for mains and scallops for starter, superb choice!! We will...return if in York, 5*.More

Been here twice. Nice place, Our First visit at Christmas. The food was good. The children's menu had plenty of choices and portions were generous. 2nd visit for our anniversary, the service was again excellent. The food was good overall. We ordered off the set...menu which has a good selection on it but I must admit I didn't enjoy the BBQ Aranci starter it was just a bit overpowering and I like BBQ. I had duck for my main and a brownie for dessert and they were both fine. As it was our anniversary they brought us out a little dessert plate which was a nice touch. The bill came to just over £60 including alcohol and tip which was good value.More

Booked a table for 19:30. At 20:45 we were still waiting for our food. We asked what was happening but got ignored by the waitress. We sat there while everyone round us got served until we left. I’ve been to kebab shops that have better...customer service. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. At no point did anyone explain why the order was so slow in coming. shocking.More

This was by far the worst restaurant meal I've ever had. My first ever review! The staff were delightful. The prawn entree, salad and desert were good. The main, fish and risotto were just appalling. Four tiny pieces of fish, each no more than one...inch diameter, 1/8 inch thick and cooked for 4 or 5 times what they deserved. Totally disappointing. The wine was a really low grade NZ sav blanc. Try Oyster Bay for something decent. It was telling that by 7.30 the place was just about empty. Bill 55 pounds. I was tempted to walk out without paying. Avoid it like the plague.More

The food was really nice and it's a lovely setting. The service was good but if anything too quick, within 30 minutes of sitting down we had ordered and eaten both our starters and mains which made it feel a bit rushed. The other thing...we noticed is that on the walk in down the alley there was an overwhelming stench of drains which wasn't a great first impression.More

I am sorry, I don’t know what is meant by open table. When we visited there were no outside tables available due to COVID restrictions as this was where people were queuing to be seated.
