We booked a table to have dinner here as there are only some tables, so it's advised. Really laid back atmosphere and having a cosy feeling throughout. We had one waiter and 2 chefs in the kitchen. The waiter was all friendly and chatty. He...even told us how to make some aspects of the dishes, which was really nice of him to share. The dishes are beautifully presented like fine dining and just as tasty as they looked. We had the following: Starters - Black Pudding and Beef Carpaccio Mains - Belly Pork Dessert - Ginger Chocolate Truffle and Banoffee Pie This is definitely worth visiting!More

We booked this restaurant last minute in the afternoon - on visiting I can’t understand why it wasn’t fully booked! Friendly greeting, a small menu of dishes that all sounded amazing and very personable staff. We both had 3 courses and couldn’t fault anything about...it, would happily return and will be recommending to all our friends!More

Had an excellent meal at Cafe no 8. The attention to detail is so evident. The food itself was amazing - even the coffee was the best I have had in a long time. The service is also top notch. I will definitely be back...in the near future.More

We felt very much at home, the food was great and so was the service. Yes the menu is limited however the quality of the food and taste certainly makes up for it.

An unassuming little restaurant where myself and the missus had an excellent meal with attentive service. A little on the expensive side. But this is reflected in a thoughtful delicious small menu where every mouthful was a delight.

This is always my first choice when I come to York, having discovered it a few years ago. It never disappoints. Last night’s meal was no exception. A lovely intimate, friendly setting, serving great food at reasonable prices given the quality. Looking forward to my...next visit, I only wish I lived closer to be able to visit more often.More

The food was excellent! I had lamb and my wife had steak. Both were meltingly tender and full of flavour. Great selection of veg/salad with them and quantity was just right. The rhubarb merangue was lovely, with home made parkin ice cream. The cheese board...was good too. It's a lovely little place, no frills but great service, lovely staff and the kitchen team do the place proud.More
