We'd eaten at the Hopping Hare, maybe a year ago, and had an excellent meal, so for a first ever Christmas Day with no parental duties, why not have Christmas Dinner prepared, cooked and cleared away for us? And it turned out to be a great decision! Shown to our table we were exceedingly well looked after by our friendly... More

A pub trying to be classier than it is. Long waiting times and very pricey Food & service good but can get same standard elsewhere for cheaper. Waitress never new what types of ice creams was on the menu . I asked for the most basic one thinking she would bring me vanilla but got brown bread ice cream instead... More

I had heard of The Hopping Hare but wasn't impressed with how it looked from the outside. Definately a case of don't judge a book by its cover. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu was very good and the food was delicious and very well presented. Even though the place was full we were not left unattended... More

A pub, restaurant and hotel, all rolled into one. The ambience hits you as you walk through the doors. Friendly, lovely staff, with nothing too much trouble for them. Our Christmas meal, for 14 of us, from around the UK. Excellent food, excellent service and great rooms. We have booked for next year. The only downside was the choice of... More

I've stayed here once for business but having moved to the relatively local area I thought it would be good to try the food. Saturday lunchtime - we had reserved as I thought it would be popular. at the time of reservation we were promised emailed menu or a call back as we were advised that there may be a... More

Wow, amazing food, excellent service, very reasonable price £20 for 3 courses. Staff were great, nothing too much trouble. I had ham hock terrine to start, then roast lamb with all the trimmings and more and finally chocolate torte. Everything was cooked to perfection, can't be beaten, only shame it's a 2 hour drive for me!

We had roast dinners which were good ,drinks are expensive over £12 for a glass of wine and a pint, don't understand how they charge £4-35 for a pint and only £2 for a half pint, shortly two half's should be the same as a pint not 35p cheaper.

Description
The Hopping Hare is a restaurant, pub & hotel. FoodThe quality of our food is really important to us.That's why everything is prepared from the finest ingredients, the freshest produce and the very best meat and fish. Our head chef has hand picked suppliers who support our food ethos and knows where the meat is reared, how the fish is caught and where the vegetables have been grown. We source locally as much as possible. Our Menus are updated regularly offering slowly braised, heart-warming comfort food when it's chilly outside, and lighter, pan-fried dishes with tender fresh vegetable and salads during the summer months. We offer chef specials every day, while Sunday's menu offers you a choice of Great British roasts with all the trimmings. It's always advisable to book to ensure a place in our relaxed conservatory restaurant.Table service is also available in the contemporary dining room with its more casual atmosphere.DrinkWhen the temperatures dip outside, we get the log fires burning to create a warm welcome, while in summer the sun streams through the open doors to reveal a large decked area that's perfect for outdoor days and balmy evenings. The contemporary dining room area is cleverly zoned by interior design to accommodate groups of all sizes. There are perfect spots for business people, backed up by free WiFi throughout the building. You will also find quiet, intimate corners for couples, fireside sofas and seating clusters for small groups as well as semi-formal table arrangements. We provide newspapers every day.Our bar staff know a thing or two about serving the perfect drink for all occasions. A range of super chilled lagers sit happily alongside cask ales - all kept in tip-top condition by our cellar manager. A well balanced wine list includes something for all tastes and is available by the glass or the bottle, and there's an extremely well stocked spirits range. Soft drinks & freshly brewed teas or coffee are available at all times. For very special occasions we stock a range of champagnes.
